Would someone please tell me the difference between Parallel to Parallel, Series to Series, and Parallel to Series. Does it matter which way they are wired up?
Of course it matters which way they are hooked up! Diffrent configurations will lead to diffrent amounts or resistance.
And it all depends on what you are hooking up... Parallel a resistance, you are cuting it into half the power! If you have 2 or more things in parralel; the final resistance will be SMALLER than the SMALLEST resitance you are putting in parrallel.
If you parallel a voltage source; example (2batts) You end up with the same voltage accross them 12v
If you series a voltage source u ADD them= 24volts ^^ that would kill all electronics in a car....
Its simple rules, but I cant teach you a whole class on a forum... lol
B, My Eternals, i'm not sure how they are wired up. I went to a local audio store and they said that with my Memphis 1000.1 PRD hooked to them they should be tearing my truck apart. And they're NOT. My guess is that they guy that had them before me didn't wire something up right. But i'm not exactly sure how do wire them. I went to Audiobahn's website and looked at the diagrams. So which would you suggest me do, wire them Series to Series? Your help is greatly appreciated.
yea! I have the prd1000.1 on my 2 TREO 15s, and I tear everything up!
let me try to help, umm 1st u need to get a 1ohm load to that amp!
are those subs dual 4ohm?????? cause that is what u need. let me know.. & whats the RMS on those subs? they may have wired it up to a higher ohm load. what is the exact model of those subs?
1st remove both subs! you will wire each sub like this; & all this wiring is done inside of the box...
On the back of EACH sub you want to wire it: + to + same wire, to + on output of box - to - same wire, to - on output of box Screw subs back in after you wire each one like above! You are now finish inside of the box! This will make each sub a 2ohm load.
Now we want to Parrallel both subs before we go to the amplifier... Because we want a 1ohm load going to the amp. You still with me???
In the back of the box, hook up both your wires + & -
You should now have 2 pairs of wires in your hand! 2 wires pos+ & 2wires neg- make them same length
strip the ends wire both positives together, then wire both negative together. This will now create a 1ohm load. U will now have 2 ends!! Put the pos to the positive of the amp, and the neg to the negative of the amp!
