My cousin is wanting to upgrade his stereo system. He currently has two 12" Alpine Type-E's in two seperate sealed boxes that are each 1 cubic feet in an extended cab Ford F-150. He says his amp (Sony Xplod 1200w) keeps clipping with the volume only half-way up. The subs are single coil 4Ohm, so I am sure that he has them wired right.
He is wanting to upgrade the alternator, amp, front speakers, and HU. He really likes his subs so he is thinking of just getting one more.
The only help he really needs is choosing an amp for the three subs, (250wrms each) and what kind of box to put them in, which someone will be building for him. But because of the space the bigger box will be taking up, he is worried that the output won't be as loud inside the cab. He likes the tight bass from the sealed boxes but he also wants some SPL. Also, he is not wanting to spend more than $300 on an amp.
That sounds good for an amp, but what do you think about the box. Should he go slot ported with one chamber for all the subs, or sealed with three seperate chambers?
