New member Username: IidbombiiPost Number: 1 Registered: Jan-06 | I just bought 2 12" Kicker Comp VRs. And a Kenwood KAC-9102D amp. The Kickers are Dual 2 ohm. 400 rms. 800 max. http://www.cardomain.com/item/KENKAC9102D This is the amp. Amplifier Type: Mono RMS Power: 500W x 1 @ 4 ohms THD at 4-Ohm RMS Power: 0.08 % RMS Power: 850W x 1 @ 2 ohms I know the subs are amazing but will the amp do the job. I just got rid of my garbage xplode. The piece of trash shut off all the time. |

But thats only if you're wanting to get 450 - 500rms which i think you can get... PS: You also can wire your dual 2 ohm subs in parallel to get a 1 ohm load i think so you can look into some 1ohm stable amps! ;) |

Silver Member Username: CenusHicksville, Ohio Usa Post Number: 991 Registered: Jan-05 | wire it series/parrellel so it would be a 2ohm load. and tj 2 dvc 2ohm subs can not be wired to 1ohm. |
New member Username: IidbombiiPost Number: 10 Registered: Jan-06 | Thats what I thought because I looked it up last night on some site I found. Another question... Should I bridge it or not? |
Gold Member Username: CenusHicksville, Ohio Usa Post Number: 1007 Registered: Jan-05 | the amp is mono so you have to bridge it. |
Bronze Member Username: IidbombiiPost Number: 16 Registered: Jan-06 | Which means run the positive to one series and the negative to the other? |
Bronze Member Username: IidbombiiPost Number: 17 Registered: Jan-06 | Like this positive here--->+ -/+ -<----negative here. |
Gold Member Username: CenusHicksville, Ohio Usa Post Number: 1009 Registered: Jan-05 | so you have 2 sets of +/-, if you do just wire one sub to one set and the other sub to the other set. |
Silver Member Username: N2audioLawrence, Ks USA Post Number: 193 Registered: Mar-04 | mono amps are no bridgable. How would you go about bridging one channel? The two pairs of terminals are just there for convenience when connecting multiple speaker leads. It's just a single speaker output with a y at the end. Use one pair or use them both, whatever's easiest, but they ARE parallel to each other, so take that into consideration when wiring. If you wire one sub in series to one channel (4 ohms), and the other in seires to the other amp (4 ohms) the resulting load on the amp is 2 ohms. |
Silver Member Username: N2audioLawrence, Ks USA Post Number: 194 Registered: Mar-04 | d/-\mn I hate not being able to edit - I made TWO friggin typo's, and the 2nd one is REALLY confusing... ** mono amps are NOT bridgable ** ** If you wire one sub in series(for 4 ohms) to one pair of outputs, and the other in seires(for 4 ohms)to the other pair of outputs the resulting load on the amp is 2 ohms. |
Bronze Member Username: IidbombiiPost Number: 20 Registered: Jan-06 | Tell me then Optidriven should I do it like this. Because I already have it wired in a series/parallel set. Positive Here ---> + -/+ - <--- Negative here. Because only two wires come out of the box when you run the series/parallel. Or should I just hook them both to the same channel. |

Silver Member Username: N2audioLawrence, Ks USA Post Number: 199 Registered: Mar-04 | So there is one terminal per sub on the box? how are the coils wired inside the box? Series or parallel? That determines the wiring outside. If they're parallel inside the box the method you're using is right. |
