I bought a set of Kappa 6.1's and I'm wondering if its alright to just put them in my doors. The back of the hole is open into the inside of the door, so the entire door would be like the enclosure. Should you build enclosure boxes for components?
it would make the bass responce better, but most components are designed for use in doors. kick panels would be the best way to go, depending on your car of course, if you wanted to put them in an enclosure.
So as long as I make sure the front is sealed from the rear of the speaker, things should be alright?

it would definitely help the midbass response but it would take a lot of work to find the correct volume in the space given. You're best bet to "make" an enclosure in the door is the make fiberglass coverings over all the holes in the door and add a few layers of acoustic padding and dynamat to give better response and a more rigid cover. This will make your door the enclosure giving the woofer enough room to breathe.
