Hi ppl,
I'm a noob, and I looked through the entire amplifier thread before making this post.
I have.
1) P-5650 (pioneer head unit)
2) Sony 4" front 250-watt speakers
3) Pioneer 6/9 6990 speakers
4) Pioneer_GM_5100 amplifier (2 channel 760 watts)
5) 305c woofer in an enclosure.
Both my speakers are connected to my set. Only my woofer is connected to my amp. The problem I face is that on high volumes my amp stops working so I have to turn down the volume for a little while before I can turn it back again (the amp does not heat up that significantly. also my amp does not trip after a lil period but as soon as I turn up the volume). I have checked my wiring and its completely fine. Although when I turn on my car deck the door light n the head light flickers very badly along in coordination with the bass effect. I have tired various settings, Like Turing on the bass boost to 12dbs to 6dbs to 0dbs along with various adjustments of the gain control, but still my amp stops working as soon as a I increase the volume to slightly above the normal level.

Could it be that my amp is sucking all my battery power?? Do I need to get my amp changed?? Or my car battery.

you either have the gain too high on the amp and it's clipping and going into thermal protection, or it's a lack of current from an insufficient electrical system. see here:

is that the single 4ohm or dual, if dual is the amp bridged, if so I bet that is most of the problem.

Well I used an alpine v12 in my car it works perfect so lack of power supply is out of the question. My amp gain is somewhere around 10% and the bass boost is set to 6dbs.i tried all setting possible with the amp. Like
1) Max gain with no bass boost
2) Amp gain at 10% with 0,6,12 dbs
3) All other settings possible.
My amps protection does not turn on. I only use the sub out on my amp. My speakers are on the hu channels. Therefore the load on a 760-watt amp is an 800watt svc sub, and as the sub connection is on sub out, that basically means it's bridged.

I would not know the ohm stability of my amp.nor of the sub.
sorry if that sounds strange but i'm a noob

that link you gave says dual voice coil, if so that means that the sub wires to an 2ohm or 8ohm load. Does it have a set of voice coils on each side of the sub.

I would take a guess, that it could be from the fact I've seen all of that gear at the local Wal-Mart...

if it is a single 4 you can unless you buy another, then you cant run that amp bridges, the sub is set up for a bridged load at 4ohms.
