I have a new alpine 12" type R 1242D which is a 500W sub with a 1500W peak. My amp is a new alpine mrd-m605 600w rms amp. I have a ported box for lower bass. Does this sound like it might sound good? I want to know what that box is tuned to at the port then, because I've yet to hear too many ported boxes that have lower bass than a sealed box. (I've heard lots of speakers, mainly home, but the difference is minimal, a port is a port). Is it a pre-fab box? Because the ones I've seen are usually ported for 35-40Hz. That's not that deep in actuality. Ported will be louder though, maybe that's what she meant. |

And to a given rolloff point, ported will still retain more volume down low even below tuning. Sealed eventually overtakes it, but usually not at a usable level unless you tune the box really high. "man youre smart jonathan. i guess you know more spanish than me." Not really spanish, I took Latin in college b/c I was planning on being a science teacher. I can pick up a few words from most of the romance languages, plus I work with Mexicans all day, so they kind of refreshed my memory on all that. I can't speak any of them worth a crap, though. |

You can't hear anything below 20hz anyway, and music very rarely drops below 30hz. In a home theater it would make more sense, though. |

Well, for the most part, where you go to Walmart, CC, or BB, and pick up a pre-asembled surround sound system, they claim does 1000W. BS in my opinion. The only HT systems I've seen that are worthwhile, each piece must be bought separately, not one of these POS garbage bundles. Pelona, I meant to say ASHLEY said that hehe. My bad man.
