If you were going to open your own car audio shop, what would be your top 2 companies you would want to deal for?? Also would you deal the same brand amps, subs and speaks or would you mix it up??
As overall brands (absolutely limited to two brands), I'd want to deal JL Audio and Eclipse. Both offer great quality stuff and aren't so expensive that they're unapproachable.
Super high end stuff isn't going to make you tons of money. Mediocre mid level stuff like RF, Alpine, and Kicker will. But you'd be limiting yourself in your abilities by carrying the above brands, because while they offer decent products, you can't really build the ultimate system out of either of them. Sure, F#1 Status components and the Head unit/Processor is nice, but they aren't within the average Joes price range and you don't start a shop hoping Rappers and Basketball players are going to be knocking on your door.
not easy to do and good luck. Most of the big companies will not sell to you direct and if they do, there is a min that you must buy per month... and a huge buy in to begin with, JL does not wholesale out, so using them may be a problem when it comes to warranty issues... I would probably use Pioneer, fosgate, and mayber kicker, they seem to be the easiest for a small shop to get their hands on from seconday dist.
yea, I have a real good lawyer friend of mines, who is working on writing up some proposals / contracts so I get the best possible contract, and not be stuck in a certain position.
JL is so huge of a company, I know they will be hard to carry their line.
But like you said the RFs, Pioneer, Kickers, Power Acoustics. I want mostly affordiable stuff, but I also want maybe 2 good manufactures also.
I want to do car alarms and navigation also. I can get some dealership contracts for alarms...
Forgot to post that I have two major shops somewhat near by. Both the same name but one is 40 miles away to the SE and the other 40 miles away to the west.
Well Chad I'm not sure if I'm opening yet. I am weighing my options. I have my own electrical business right now and thinking about expanding to car audio slash verizion dealer to broaden my horizons. And if I can get good enough prices to compete with some of these other online distributors, of course I'll give you guys discounts!!!
