Under where it says when weve registered we could have some little skills were good at so say if someone was looking for someone that was good in particular field. Like i could put.
General all around knowledgable
amplifier loads and wiring specialist
basic electronics knowlegable
not good at designing/tuning enclosures
we could put it in our profile maybe if not under registered date but i think it would be cooler if it was out in the open and we didnt have to go looking through profiles for it.
Subwoofers ( like good, and bad) Amps ( helping with right RMS, bridging, ect.) Wiring ( if people have problems with subs, and how to connect to amp/sub(s)) HU ( good and bad, features ect.) Enclosures ( tune, specs, Directing to websites for desinging own) HO ALT ( batteries, HO Alts, Caps ect.
yeah i was thinking about having a little test so that you can prove your fields, but that would be a big hassle and everyone would probably cheat on it anyway by googling the answers and stuff like that and the questions wouldnt be that easy lol.......
but some people dont know the answer to that but they can tell you what amp would go good with what speaker so you might know part of it but not the other half
nah that wouldnt work... it's not that important. I mean I don't wanna have to pass a test to be able to post on a forum. Blocking anonymous posts would be a start.
Not to burst your bubble boys, but a witt test should not be about off the shelf knowledge. It should be something that you will need to use your head. Besides there are a lot of people that think they would do really good on a test such as this, but I bet you would be surprised with your own results.
i think somewhere under the Registered thingy you should put your AIM s/n so if they need to talk to someone who isnt on the forum at the time they could later or something... just an idea i had- thought id throw it out there
1) Adding a user's "specialty" on each post shouldn't be too difficult. A new field will have to be added and edited within everyone's user profile first.
2) We will plan to add an AIM option too.
Give us a few weeks to test this out.
Unfortunately our current message board software doesn't support stickies. However, anyone who wishes to write a helpful post that should be read by all before posting is welcome to submit their post to me. Then we could manually place links to such an article in the forum.

1) while the members can be responsible for initially setting/stating their expertise, i think the wiz (admin) should be the one responsible for altering such knowledge status based on responses in that respective area. and if possible, he can even afford them like between 1 and 5 stars constantly displayed underneath the name, depending on past responses (likely not able to be supported here either). ecoustic "gold" member status doesn't quite (necessarily) carry the same credentials as do other forums.
2) those provided false credentials (proven by bogus subsequent responses) should get roasted by peers without remorse. this is the reason gold members are generally well respected on other forums. b/c members can't just say "anything", less they quickly get checked. the poser... i mean the poster usually thinks twice next time and does great research before making an arbitrary response again.
No need for tests, after all it's not that hard to cheat. What could be helpful is to give special symbol or "star" to those that know their stuff and have proven over time with posts. It's not that hard on here to find them, ie GlassWolf (got hitched again), Jonathan, Fishy, Mike and few others. If the special symbol is not possible, then maybe a coloured "name" that's different from the rest.
