draining as in you can't crank your car the next day or draining as in you have an inadequate charging system and your lights dim and amps cut out and all??

Well while the car is on it should not drain your battery at all, thats what the alternater is for. So what probably is wrong is that your amp is always on even when your car is off, or you need a new battery. The amp turn on wire should be hooked to the head unit turn on wire. (useally a blue wire) Or you could hook it up to a toggle switch and turn it on when you want it.
