Instead of buying an amplifier, is it ok to plug my 4 speakers to the out of my headunit? (IF THEY ARE PRE-AMPLIFIED)?
Or is it really a must to use an amplifier (for the 4 speakers)? ------------ my idea so far is to get a headunit with 4 preamp channels, one 12" subwoofer and its amplifier (only for the subwoofer).
a radio wont put out that much power, rms is about 22w and if turn up to much it is nothing but distorted power from head units anyway. thats is why speakers distort, distortion comes from the radio.
How about this. I still have a Kenwood KDD-217 (it says 45w x 4) I guess about 18w ~ 20w rms x channel and I bought a pair of 5 ways PIONEER Ts-a6991s (460max watts - 80w rms) impedance 4
I thought, It would sound much louder, they sound very weak.
I guess that's because my unit has no pre-amp channels or because it's too weak to move my speakers.
what could be the minimal (and maximum) amplifier x channel (peak and rms) to make it sound properly without risk and without distortion.
