Bronze Member Username: GreeneyGrove, MN US Post Number: 33 Registered: Dec-05 | 4 gauge- thats what i run |
Kyle D Unregistered guest | last question what size fuse do on use the fuse holder? Thanks, sry for all the questions. |
Silver Member Username: Baseball1187Columbia, SC Post Number: 314 Registered: Dec-04 | 4guage is good, 2 would be better, 1/0 would be best. but 1/0 is a little overkill IMO. 2guage would be ideal. knukonceptz.com has some good wire. You could use their 1/0 for your big 3 and run their 4 guage kolossus kable to power your amp. (which is actually 3guage) |
Bronze Member Username: GreeneyGrove, MN US Post Number: 34 Registered: Dec-05 | i would go to your local audio store ( circuit city, best buy, ultimate electronics, radio shack) and they usually have premade kits , and everything you need will be in there, with your power your kit will probably run you about 100.00, if you can find the wires for sell for cheap then go for it but i couldnt |
Silver Member Username: Baseball1187Columbia, SC Post Number: 317 Registered: Dec-04 | lol I WOULD NOT go to circuit city or best buy for a wire kit you will be 3x as much and get 1/2 the quality !! Knukonceptz.com, get the 4guage kit, like 30 dollars. but you will need bigger fuses. I have that same amp with 4guage wire, 150a ANL fuse and 1/0 big 3, all from KK |
Silver Member Username: Baseball1187Columbia, SC Post Number: 318 Registered: Dec-04 | you will pay 3x as much**** |
Kyle D Unregistered guest | so buy the 30 kit from knuinceptz.com and my upgrade for big 3 would be done? |
Silver Member Username: Baseball1187Columbia, SC Post Number: 320 Registered: Dec-04 | well it's not quite that simple. The 4guage kolussus kable (is really 3guage) is rated at 120a, at 20ft i believe. So it's plenty for that amp. But the kit only comes with an 80a AGU fuse. NOT ENOUGH for that amp. I'd order the kit, which comes with good RCA interconnects too, the ANL inline fuse holder, the fuse is free i think with the purchase (150a is what i used). and enough 1/0 wire to do your big 3. That should come out around $75. You might also wanna get new battery terminals to do your big 3, makes stuff easier. |
Silver Member Username: Baseball1187Columbia, SC Post Number: 321 Registered: Dec-04 | I was talking about the 4guage kit to power the amp, maybe you already have wire for that? |
Kyle D Unregistered guest | Yea, my amp is already connect and everything. I just wanted to upgrade my big three. |
Silver Member Username: Baseball1187Columbia, SC Post Number: 323 Registered: Dec-04 | yea, i'd get the 1/0, but the 4guage would be okay if you're on a budget. The battery terminals would be nice too, it would make the whole process very easy |
Kyle D Unregistered guest | so the 4 gauge kit is all I need to complete....including the fuse and fuse holder? |
Kyle D Unregistered guest | so thats all i need? |
