New member Username: JaysendCalifornia Post Number: 2 Registered: Apr-04 | I have 2 sets of Infinity kappa 50.5cs 5-1/4" Components running on an old alpine 25wattx4 amp it is a mrp 256 flex4. My question is, will a better amp with say 100x4 sound much better? I am constantly looking on ebay for a mcintosh 100x4 amp. would an amp of that caliber really make a big difference? Thanks, Jason |

Not quite twice as loud. The McIntosh may be a bit cleaner, but if you'll be able to tell in the ar? Hard to say. That McIntosh amp will cost you about $1,500 used. you know that, right? That's probably on teh low side, too. Zapco's C2K 4.0X may be a better solution for a 100wRMS x 4 @ 4 ohms solution. That amp retails for $1,799 but I saw one on eBay for $650 |

Is it worth getting an amp like the mcintosh or zapco for my kappas? I mean do you think there will be an audible difference? Perhaps somewhere inbetween? Maybe a kicker kx800.4? or the jl 450/4 would be in order. Thanks. |

You are right though I think these would be overkill in my offroad vehicle. I think I am going to go for the kicker. Thanks for the input. |
