JamesHarper Unregistered guest | Please help! the other day my car alarm (clifford concept 300) went off. I ran to it and stopped it by pressing the unlock button. Now whenever I get in the car and start the engine the doors no longer lock themselves as before. Also when I get out of the car and lock it I hear the normal 2 beeps BUT after a few second delay I hear 4 beeps. However after a few hours of the car being locked and unused the alarm sounds with continuous proximity alarm noises rather than the standard break-in alarm! this is causing massive problems with the neighbours and I am desperate for a solution. I have no idea why this is happening its been working fine up until now Can anyone help please? |
Silver Member Username: JeremycKunsan AfbSouth Korea Post Number: 535 Registered: Jun-04 | James, check your trunk and hood pins for proper adjustment, and make sure there not coroded. After that look at the fuse holder a few inches down line from the battery terminal. If it looks coroded, or dirty, replace or clean it as required. If neither of those fix it, take it to a dealer and have them check it out. |
Unregistered guest | I just recently had a Clifford Matrix 3 alarm installed on a 2000 Expedition. I'm suppose to be albe to use the VRS. In reading the manual, I found out if it triggers the only way to disarm it is to turn the key to on and push the valet button the programed number of times. Well, I don't know what the programed # is nor do I know how or can find how to program it. I took it back to the installer; no help. I can arm and disarm the VRS option with the remote, but if it is every triggered, I can't disarm it with out the valet switch code. Any suggestions. thanks. |
Silver Member Username: JeremycOK in less t... South Korea Post Number: 577 Registered: Jun-04 | Yeah I just looked over the manual myself. The only choices you have is to check the old manual and see if the dealer wrote it in, or take it to a dealer that doesn't mind hooking it to the computer and resetting it for you. Well you can always try the trial and error method. The valet code is the same way you enter the programing menu. So every time you get in your truck try one of the multiple numbers you have to chose from. (not going to say it on here) Just try it once as soon as you turn the key on and try the next number next time. That way you can still narow it down, and it doesn't cause your alarm to freeze up. (if you take to long or put in the wrong # more than a few times it won't accept anything) |

Unregistered guest | I bought a nissan which had a clifford alarm fitted , but cant find the model number anywhere. My rmote has only 2 nob(l& II) My problem is that, since one very snowy day I came back to the car to find the light on the dash permanently on, think thats valet mode, and the car was immobilised, so bumped started it, by pushing it as i thought I had a flat battery. later on after about 4 hours it reset and was fine however since then my alarm keeps going off, i'm able to turn it off with the remote but it rearms after about 3min, this is driving me and the neighbours crazy. Cant get any rep out till next week and i need the car. At the moment i have taken one terminal off the battery.Any help guys |

I drove the car and armed the system again and it was fine. A few hours later..same problem. There's nobody setting off the alarm. Could it be my shock sensor? |

Unregistered guest | My husband jacked up our '99 Mustang SVT Cobra to change the oil last week and we think the tilt sensor in the Intelliguard Millennia alarm is on the fritz. The convertible roof and windows could not be operated and the ignition was killed everytime he started up the car. Today, he reset the alarm a couple of times and he was successful in starting up the car, but it is not reproducible. We discovered this after spending the afternoon washing the car. Now, we have the car in the middle of the driveway(we can't get our other vehicles out of the garage) with the roof down and the windows open. We've spent several hours, trying to reset the alarm and also to turn off the tilt sensor. The manual for the Intelliguard millennia suggests that the tilt sensor can be turned off but the chart has no mention of it. When the alarm was installed, we asked the wanker who installed it to put in the DB9 serial com port but we don't see it in the glove or under the steering wheel. Could there be another place where this port could be installed or did this wanker just didn't put it in even though we asked him? We were hoping to use the software wizard to see what was going on and to turn off sensors. Do you guys have any other suggestions or ideas short of going in and ripping out this *&##@*#* alarm? Going to an authorized Clifford dealor is not an option, the closest one "doesn't do" this type of alarm and the next closest one is 2.5 hours away and I'm not even sure if they "do anything" with this type of alarm. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. |
Unregistered guest | To clarify the problem we have, the ignition is getting killed even when the alarm is in valet mode, suggesting there is something terribly wrong with the brains of the system I think. |

Silver Member Username: JeremycOK in less t... South Korea Post Number: 634 Registered: Jun-04 | VSOY, sorry about the delay I have been moving. If it starts and then dies when the alarm is in valet mode, it isn't the alarm. If it won't start period even with the alarm in valet mode, then it is might be the ignition cut off wire. I am not much of a ford guy, but there should be a wire that suplies 12 volts DC to your coil, if you follow that wire a little ways, you will have to remove some tape and tubing, you should see were the wire has been cut and a new wire spliced in. I would check both sides, and make sure it is making a good conection. As for the tilt sensor. I wouldn't worry about it. I can see it causing false alarms if it was messed up, but it won't cause the problems you are having. If you are set in turning it off, you can unplug it from the brain, or look in your manual and see if you can turn it off using your 5 button remote. I know on all of the clifford alarms I have had, you used the remote to turn the sensor off, or adjust it. |

Silver Member Username: JeremycGermany Post Number: 640 Registered: Jun-04 | LJ, the imobilizer will not cause it to die once it is running. The imobilizer will not alow the car to start, or it will completly shut the car off (like turning off the switch) and sound the alarm if you have the black jack turned on, and foget to enter the vallet code. If it isn't doing it EVERY time you start the car, then it isn't the black jack, and unless there is a short in one of the wires, the alarm isn't the problem. As for the remotes, have them replace the batteries, and ask them to move the receiver. They might have left it behind the dash, instead of putting it in a better location. (mine is behind the rear view mirror, right next to the head liner. |
Unregistered guest | I have bought a BMW one year ago and we have never had a problem with the Clifford Alarm until now. It doesn't seem 2 talk when you go near it anymore. Recently it keeps making a bleeping noise and we have checked if the boot was left open or the window or door was left open but none of them is the reason. I have tryed locking it and unlocking it, that doesn't work. I think something has triggered the alarm and needs to be sorted. |
Unregistered guest | Does anyone know if there is a Clifford Alarm Service in London.....Wembly, Harrow Watford...etc. We need to untrigger the alarm thingy that keeps making a bleeping type of noise. |
Silver Member Username: JeremycGermany Post Number: 646 Registered: Jun-04 | A Shah, replace the batteries in the remote, and check the fuses (a few inches down from the battery) and make sure there isn't any corosion, or dirt. If the battery in your remote is low the alarm will make a diffrent sound when you disarm it, and if the fuses are coroded the alarm might not get enough power to chirp like it is supost to. If neither of those work, then I hope you find a close shop that isn't to far away. |

Silver Member Username: JeremycGermany Post Number: 693 Registered: Jun-04 | Mark, if it doesn't say in the manual, then you will have to have the dealer set it. If it was a G4 or G5 you could set it with the cliff net wizzard. You might ask the dealer if you can have the install manual for it. Tell him you live 4 hours away, and would like it in case you have a problem in the future. They normally don't give them out, but you might get lucky. Judd, sounds like it still isn't powering on. When you disconect a clifford alarm from a battery and then reconect it, it will come back on in THE SAME MODE. So recheck all your fuses, it sounds like one is still blown. Saira, it sounds like your remote might be dead, or the battery might be low. Try replacing the battery in the remote, and if that doesn't fix it make sure there isn't a broken sodder joint were the battery hooks to the circuit board. Some older clifford models were bad about breaking right there. Its an easy fix if you know someone with a sodder gun. (cliford dealer should be able to fix in about 5 min) If the battery is good, and everything inside the remote looks good, check the fuses under the hood and make sure they aren't corroded. Look at the positive terminal of your battery and you will see a set of black wires comming off. Folow them for about 6 inches and you will see a couple of fuse holders. Thats what you need to chcck. Pull the fuses out, and replace the fuses, or clean the conector as required. |

I have read the manual but there is no troubleshooting section. The issue: After arming the alarm, after about 5 to 10 secs, I get 4 Beeps followed by 2 light flashes. When I disarm the alarm and go to start the car, the led flashes 4 times pauses and flashes 4 times again. Its seems to do this for about 10 secs then stops. Does anyone know what could be causing this? It just started a couple of week ago. Thank you, Erick Gabriel |
Unregistered guest | Hi. I have a Clifford Concept 200 on a '95 BMW. I read the manuals carefully before starting. I still am messed up. At this point, I have the following situation: * Arming with the remote sets the lights on/off as it is supposed to, and the LED flashes as it is supposed to, but no chirps. Also the car does not lock. * Assuming I need to set the user-programmable features, I enter the programming mode by entering my valet code and then the * button for four seconds. At that point, the LED lights up, but I never get chirps. * From there, I can press any combination of codes (blanks and *'s), with no response from the alarm - no chirps and no changes in behavior. * ONE TIME when I tried this, I got chirps and changes in behavior (the behavior was different than described above - that is my current state), but I cannot get that to happen again. Any ideas? I just downloaded the installer manual so I can get into installer programming mode and see if something else is wrong. I may even have done that by mistake trying to get the alarm to respond to me into user programming mode. Thanks for any help. |
Silver Member Username: JeremycGermany Post Number: 719 Registered: Jun-04 | Eric you have a hood or trunk pin that is grounding out to metal. Check your hood and trunk, and make sure the pins aren't wet, dirty, coroded, or out of adjustment. If they are and your not sure how to fix them tale it to a dealer and they should e able to fix it pretty quickly. |
Silver Member Username: JeremycGermany Post Number: 720 Registered: Jun-04 | Ian try resetting everything to factory settings. It would be * 7 times and blank one time according to the manual. If that doesn't fix it, then you will need to take it to the dealer. I wouldn't mess with the installer settings to much, unless the reset works. There is alot of stuff in there that can cause all kinds of problems if set wrong. If your carefull it isn't a big deal, but as you have noticed it is pretty easy to mess up. |
Unregistered guest | Jeremy; Thanks for the input. I have already tried resetting to factory specs several times, counting my button presses rather than counting on the non-existent beeps. No luck. [Is it *seven times THEN blank one time? My reading of the manual says blank one time THEN * 7 times. Perhaps that is my problem?] As another symptom, I read that if I leave the trunk open and try to set the alarm, the car should chirp even if the chirps are set to off. I tried that just to test, and the car did not chirp at me. The ONE time things did work, everything went as in the manual, including the custom tone test cycling through the various tones. When I am now trying to program, assuming that I am just not getting chirps, I also don't get the various alarms. I think I am going to have to bring it in as you suggest. :-( Thanks again. -- Ian |
Anonymous | Hi! I've got a clifford concept 50 in a BMW 635csi (1986). I had it washed, dropped it off at the parking garage, and when I returned it wouldn't start. It may be an ignition relay, or the alarm, or with an older high-mileage car some other oddity. I'm betting on the alarm being the problem though. I've looked through everything in this forum and can't find a specific wiring diagram for the concept 50. Also, any help on a wiring diagram for this car would be amazingly helpful too. It going to be very difficult to tow the car somewhere for diagnosis...and will likely cause some front end damage to do so. Best! dabrams |
Silver Member Username: JeremycGermany Post Number: 724 Registered: Jun-04 | IAN [Is it *seven times THEN blank one time? My reading of the manual says blank one time THEN * 7 times. Perhaps that is my problem?] Nope, its the other way, blank one time, wait a few seconds (the alarm would normally beep letting you know how many times you pushed it)and then star seven times (the alarm should beep every time you push it). Hope that helps. If you try that and it still doesn't work, then your brain might be dead, or the siren might have went out. Make sure you check the fuses (just incase you haven't all ready) |
Silver Member Username: JeremycGermany Post Number: 725 Registered: Jun-04 | Anon, sorry man I don't have wiring diagrams. They are very closely guarded by the dealers. As for the car diagram PSK10 poasted a link for those at the start of this forum. Other than that I doubt its the alarm. If it is you should be able to put it in valet mode, and get it to start. |
Unregistered guest | posted by dabrams --- Thanks Jeremy. The alarm is in valet mode. Also, just did some more tests and I'm getting spark, but no fuel on crank. To my knowledge the concept 50 has both an ignition cutoff and a fuel cutoff. There's an unlabeled large grey box mounted in the trunk just above the fuel fill port of the gas tank. This was installed concurrent with the alarm. I'm guessing this would be the fuel cuttoff system for the clifford concept 50. I could use some more info on it. I.e. is it servo driven? Could this unit have frozen closed? Is it possible to service it without gasoline shooting all over the place. Can I crack it open to take a look? If the rest of the concept 50 is working, any chance just the fuel cut-off isn't? Any info on this really appreciated! Best! dabrams |
Unregistered guest | posted by dabrams --- Also, how many fuses hang off the battery for the concept 50? The wiring diagrams for the concept 60 show 2 different fuses coming off the positive terminal, but I only see one fuse. Does the 50 have 2 or just the 1? Its a 30amp... Thanks! Dabrams |
Unregistered guest | Hi. I just posted images of the mysterious grey box in my trunk that has fuel lines going in and out of it. Believe it was installed along with the concept 50. Can anyone verify? Here's a link: http://www.strawtalk.com/635/index.htm Thanks! Dru |

Gab.canada.qc Unregistered guest | Hi all ... I do have a Cyber3 alarm and it seems to woks fine if I don't have to use the remotes. I have 2 remotes with it, and they both behave in the same fashion. The led does light up, the battery is new but still no response from the main unit. I did clear all the channels and I got the 2 chirps. Then I tried to add the remotes. I can go as far as adding channel 1 on each remote, then I get no chirp confirmation for the rest of the channels. The thing is that even channel 1 does not work. I did get a confirmation when I added the remote. is there a way to do get my remotes to work ? Thanks for your tips. Gab.canada.qc |

Silver Member Username: JeremycGermany Post Number: 728 Registered: Jun-04 | tysoncam92 if its not on the manual site I posted above, then you will have to talk to a locale dealer, or call clifford direct. Gab.canada.qc I just looked over the manual and it seems pretty easy. So if it isn't working then you might have a problem else where. I would clear all the codes again, and they try it once more. I would go thru one remote all the way, and see if it works, then add the second remote. If that doesn't work see if you can take it in and have a dealer set it up for you. It shouldn't take them more than an hour or so once they have it in. Lee look at page 8 and 19 of the manual. It tells you how to add the remotes back in. The reason it is shutting off after you start the car, is it is giving you time to enter the valet code, since it auto armed instead of armed by remote. So enter your vallet code, and program the remotes like it states in the manual, or just put it into valet mode till you get a chance to program the remotes in. www.clifford.com/guides/ogs/concept300uk_owners.pdf Anonymous The auto door lock is in your user selectable features. Look at on page 8 and 9 it will tell you how to turn it off. Do not cut wires, it will mess up alot more than your auto lock and unlock. www.clifford.com/guides/ogs/arrow3_owners.pdf Dave, I wouldn't try installing it in your next car. I would have someone do it. First off the manuals are very closy guarded. Second, if you install it you loose the life time warranty. If you have a clifford dealer install it you will still be under the original warranty for the alarm. Some dealers will even install alarms you purchase from a friend and warranty it for you. Third, alarms are pain in the butt to install. I have been doing this stuff for a while, and I still let someone else install all my alarms. Dabrams, sorry about the wait. I hope you all ready got it fixed, but if not lets see what I can do. From what you have explained, it does sound like the fuel cut off might be bad, or a bad fuel pump. I don't beleive it would be a large unlabled box like you have in the picture. Most of what clifford uses, are black labled boxes. With Clifford, or some other brand across them. My second reason for not thinking the box is from clifford, why would they use something like that when a simple electric switch could be used. To cut of the fuel flow all they need to do is cut the power to the pump. So why use something that complicated that could cause more problems. I would check to see if your getting 12 volts dc at the fuel pump, or the conector closest to it. If you are then the pump is probably bad, (unless you can hear it spin up). If you don't get power, run a seprate wire back from the battery and see if you can hear the pump run up, or if the car will run. If it does, then your problem lies in the power wire to your pump. I would follow the wire untill you find a tie point (a wire spliced in that should run to a cut off for your alarm. Check and see if you are getting power on either side, If you have power on the incomming side, but nothing were it ties back in and runs to the pump, your cut off is bad, and you should be able to splice the wires back together and be good to go. If you don't have power on either side, then you have a problem up farther forward (fuse or supply problem), and the clifford isn't causing the problem. |

Diplomatic_Dude Unregistered guest | Hey guys! I really need your help in locating the installation instructions for a Clifford Nova III! Any help would be a great help!!! |
Unregistered guest | I have a Clifford Matrix 3 alarm installed in a 1999 Porsche 911. Precisely 2 hours after arming the alarm, a full alarm is triggered. This happens every time I arm the system, and it is exactly 2 hours after arming it. Does anyone have any idea of why? I ran it by my dealer and he couldn't figure it out. Please email me at RonMathMD@Yahoo.com. Thanks! |
Unregistered guest | Does anyone have an actual link to the Installation guide or wiring diagram for a Clifford Cyber 5? Not the owner manual or the Clifford guides link, there is not actual wiring diagrams or install guides there. |

Silver Member Username: JeremycGermany Post Number: 742 Registered: Jun-04 | Bazwell, bazzle, and Ron. Sorry I don't do wiring diagrams. Ron, thats a weirds one. I honestly have no clue. I would check all thew normal stuff, fuse holders, trunk and hood pins. Other than that, take it to a clifford dealer. Fatboy, did you recently have any work done? Either your pin has been changed, or the pad or wiring to it went bad, or got disconected. Double check and make sure the wires are still conected, and if they are, use the remote to put it in valet mode till you can take it bye the shop. |
Silver Member Username: Ps1k0Post Number: 221 Registered: Aug-04 | i remember working on a problem like rons a few years ago, only on a ford, where the locks went into a sleep mode and would set the alarm off. could be something similar. bazwell and bazzle, i don't have a wiring diagram for either of those models listed. i have one for a cyber 4 and a concept 600. i can post them if you think they'll help. |

Becdause of this the alarm system has gone dead and the immobilser is constantly on. Does anyone know if ill need to reset the alarm system when i install a new smart siren? Also does anyone know how to retrieve a valet code as i dont know it an neither does any of the previous owners!?! cheers |
Silver Member Username: JeremycGermany Post Number: 743 Registered: Jun-04 | Wow Guys the questions seem to be getting harder. Craig, You should be able to put the car into, valet mode using the remote. Just look at the manual and it will tell you how. As for finding out the old manual valet code, there isn't really a way. You can try the defualt, star, star flat, and maybe it will work. As for resetting the alarm. I wouldn't think so, but I honestly don't know. If you hook it up, and its still on the frits, then give it a try. |

New member Username: DangFrederick, Md Frederick Post Number: 1 Registered: Jul-05 | I have a clifford alarm ( model 700IQ) and the siren keeps going if i put the fuse in. I try to put it in the valet mode but the remote still does not work even I replaced the battery for my remote. What should I do? please give me some advices. I do have the manual for it. Do i need to reprogram the brain & my remotes |
Silver Member Username: JeremycGermany Post Number: 746 Registered: Jun-04 | Dang, try putting in the fuse, and then entering the valet code thru the valet switch. If that works you have one problem fixed. The reason the alarm goes of when you insert the fuse, is cliffords power up in the same stage they were in, prior to power being removed. So if you pulled the fuse with the alarm going off, it should go off as soon as you reinsert the fuse. As for programing the remote to the alarm. since you pulled the power from the alarm you will probably have to. Once you get it into vallet mode, (using the switch) you will be able to enter the programing menu, and then set up your remotes. Be sure to reenter your valet code, and hold the button like it says in the manual. If you have it in valet all ready, and just hold the button it will not go into the programing menue. I don't know how this started, but if your remote suddenly stopped working, with out you doing anything, unhooking the car battery, or removing the fuse for the alarm. Then your remote might have went bad. (example) If all of a sudden your remote stopped working, and you replaced the battery in it, (without unhooking the power to the brain) and it still didn't work. Then your remote might be bad. |
New member Username: DangFrederick, Md Frederick Post Number: 2 Registered: Jul-05 | JeremyC, I think it happen after I replaced the battery. Anyway, if that is the case do I have to reprogram my remotes or it have been program from the factory. One more question, if I replace the battery next time, what do i have to do? Thank a lot JeremyC |
Silver Member Username: JeremycGermany Post Number: 750 Registered: Jun-04 | The remotes are all preprogramed. All you have to do is train the brain to look for that remote. That being said replacing the battery in the remote won't change anything. It should work just fine. Now replacing the car battey with some of the older clifford alarms is a diffrent story. Then you do have to reprogram the brain to look for the remote. If your talking about the remote battery, nothing except make sure its in the right way. The car battery, your kinda stuck with the older alarms. When you hook it up you have to reprogram the brain. It keeps all the other setting, but it will loose what remote it is suposed to look for. With the newer alarms you don't have to do anything. They have a better memory, that keeps the remote info even with no power applied. |
Silver Member Username: JeremycGermany Post Number: 751 Registered: Jun-04 | FYI to program the remotes look at page 22 of your manual, or you can bring it up with this link. www.clifford.com/guides/ogs/intelliguard700iq_owners.pdf |
New member Username: DangFrederick, Md Frederick Post Number: 3 Registered: Jul-05 | JeremyC, I don't know what I did wrong but right now I can not turn off the siren unless I remove the fuse. Is there a way to reset it to the factory? I did try to remove the battery terminal. I can not use the key to lock the door from the driver side too. Thank you for your help |
Silver Member Username: JeremycGermany Post Number: 752 Registered: Jun-04 | No there isn't a way to reset it from factory. Try letting the alarm go off for a few min, and it should stop going off. Then get in turn on the key, and enter your valet code using the switch. That should disarm the system, so you can actually start working with it. If you enter the wrong code 3 times it will temporaraly disable the valet switch. So that might be what happened last time you tried. |
