Anonymous | i dont care much about the yellow but that just my opinion, i see that the box is seperated inside witch well help with loudness and sound but tell me what are you aiming for in a car audio system? |
New member Username: AtonemanABQ., New Mexico USA Post Number: 3 Registered: Apr-04 | Looks like I forgot to list the price. These speakers are going for $200.00. |
New member Username: AtonemanABQ., New Mexico USA Post Number: 4 Registered: Apr-04 | I'm aiming for something that bumps real well. An Audio system that produces a clean, crisp sound. The yellow kinda took me off also, but I can live with that if it's a great steal for $200 ya know. But, pretty much looking for something that just jams. -Atone |

I'd spend a little more and buy a pair of Adire Shiva 12" or Kicker CompVR 12" for ~$200-$250 then spend $50-60 and build my own box for them, sealed or vented. |

New member Username: AtonemanABQ., New Mexico USA Post Number: 6 Registered: Apr-04 | Thank you very much Glasswolf. But for the $money$ on these do you think they are worth $200? |
Gold Member Username: GlasswolfNorthWest, Michigan USA Post Number: 2357 Registered: Dec-03 | not really, but I won't buy cheap crap just to "get by" I'd rather save up and get decent gear that'll last. just my outlook. everybody has different opinions. |

New member Username: AtonemanABQ., New Mexico USA Post Number: 8 Registered: Apr-04 | Well at the moment I can spend anywhere between $250-$300, and I would like to find subwoofers that already are pre-installed in a box. Thank you for your honest input their Kevin. As you may notice, I know very very little about car audio stuff. I never was big into this, but now I'm looking and now seeking advise. -Atone |
Bronze Member Username: VipersbymsPost Number: 37 Registered: Apr-04 | just like glasswolf said before, kicker comp vr's. u can pick them up on ebay for $150 for a pair shipped. they're really good subs for a great price. u find them at an online store for a little more. then u can just buy a box, and wiring the subs is very easy. wiring them is also very easy to mess up if u dont know exactly how to do it. so just ask us when the time comes, and we will tell u how to wire them step by step. |
Gold Member Username: GlasswolfNorthWest, Michigan USA Post Number: 2377 Registered: Dec-03 | I was just thinking that. two Kicker CompVR 12" subs (2+2 ohm DVC models) then search eBay for "kicker comp vr box gold" you'll fine a slot vented box built of 3/4" MDF, carpeted, with gold terminals designed just for those subs. they sell for about $40-50 for the box the subs are about $99 each new. that'd be ~$250-300 US. and you'll be very happy with the outcome. they'll want ~300wRMS each, so a Kicker KX600.1 is an ideal amplifier to match with those two subs. with two 4+4 ohm DVC subs you'll get a 2 ohm load which is ideal on that amp. |
Gold Member Username: GlasswolfNorthWest, Michigan USA Post Number: 2378 Registered: Dec-03 | in fact this guy sells quite a few of these boxes. here is one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=39777&item=3093583975&rd= 1&ssPageName=WDVW |
New member Username: AtonemanABQ., New Mexico USA Post Number: 9 Registered: Apr-04 | Wow, thanks alot guys, this really helps. Let me ask a quick question without sounding stupid, but I thought to setup a speaker box, you just wire them to the pre-existing wires to the car speakers? That's unless you do setup with a amp, then of course extra wiring will be required? Is this wrong? -Atone |
New member Username: AtonemanABQ., New Mexico USA Post Number: 10 Registered: Apr-04 | So I should be looking for something like this? http://i3.ebayimg.com/03/i/01/9f/9d/52_1_b.JPG I might just have to watch this item on ebay. -Atone |
Gold Member Username: GlasswolfNorthWest, Michigan USA Post Number: 2399 Registered: Dec-03 | you NEED an amp to drive subs period |
Bronze Member Username: AtonemanABQ., New Mexico USA Post Number: 11 Registered: Apr-04 | Okay, any ideas on what type of amp I should buy? I know one that delivers a great sound with no distortion? Any brands better than others, for a reasonable price? Let's say $150 or lower? -Atone |
Gold Member Username: GlasswolfNorthWest, Michigan USA Post Number: 2438 Registered: Dec-03 | the amp will depend on the sub(s) you go with. if you get a single compVR 4+4 ohm DVC sub, you could use a JBL BP300.1 amp and that'd be $99 for the sub, and $160 or so for the amp I think, and maybe $40 for the box. |
