Silver Member Username: UcfsaxmanOviedo/orlando, Fl Post Number: 305 Registered: May-05 | exactly materials and build quality most home theater subs are better built than your average car subs. the home theater subs are put into a box or enclosure made specifically for that woofer. whereas in car audio this is not always the case if people buy pre fab boxes or do not build a box to that subs specs. home theater subs are more bang for your buck a decent powered 8" home theater sub can fill an entire room easily w/ deep bass. |

Silver Member Username: Nutty91rsBloomington, Indiana USA Post Number: 215 Registered: Oct-05 | It would, but car subs are usually built to roll off the lower octave because of cabin gains. Well this was the trend up until about a year ago and now we're gradually seeing car subs become more and more like Home subs. Car subwoofers are generally made to function in small moderatly high tuned enclosures where as home subs are built to work in larger lower tuned enclosures. |

Post Number: 1599 Registered: May-05 | My sub is a hybrid between the Sadhara driver (the home audio version of the Brahma) which added more moving mass, a single 4 ohm voice coil, and a few minor differences in cosmetics. http://ultimateavmag.com/features/704way/index1.html When the Brahma soft parts were added, this got rid of the extra moving mass and brought it to the dual 2 ohm coils of the Brahma's, so what was left is the differing cosmetics (Huge Motors). So the difference is basically the mass of the soft parts (cone, spider, and surround) and the impedence. "So why wouldnt a high quality car sub in a proper enclosure sound as good as a home theatre sub of the same specs in a home." as tuck suggested, home subs and car subs are becomming more alike. these are home subs that work well in cars (the tumult is undergoing the changes to make it even better in car) http://www.acoustic-visions.com/~acoustic/products/subwoofer_drivers/parts_titan ic_12_mkiii/ http://www.acoustic-visions.com/~acoustic/products/subwoofer_drivers/adire_tumul t_15/ |
