well i've had my alpine for around a year. i got a new amp, put it in. and for some reason it didn't hit hard at all. the only time it would really pound was when i had the setting on "DEFEAT". what is this? with this on i can't adjust treble or bass for my highs and mids. even with the setting off and the subwoofer setting all the way up it still hits way harder with the "DEFEAT" setting on.
for some reason it also seamed that when i could adjust my treble and bass on my mids/highs my subs hit harder. now i have a more powerful amp. could i have hokked something up backwards or something?

I got the Eclipse 5425 and for me the "DEFEAT" setting is the flat setting for the equilizer.
could it be that you crossed your RCA's and your sub is getting a different channel instead of the sub output?
is your sub hitting as hard with your new amp with defeat on, as with your old amp?? if not it could be a wiring problem.
