Anonymous | wut size, and what amp would u get for those? |
Bronze Member Username: MaddrakkettPost Number: 25 Registered: Sep-05 | How about Memphis or JL W7s... Kicker Solo Baric (the square speakers) are known for SPL more than SQ... As for number, whatever you go with, make sure the impedence is handled by the amp you use. Perhaps search for some really large diameter subs, like 18" or higher... like a 400lb. 22" MTX Jackhammer (http://www.mtxaudio.com/caraudio/products/subwoofers/jackHammer.cfm) - oh yeah, you're looking for around $600.00, not $7,500.00! |

Anonymous | l7s dont come in 18". what 18s are any good? i listen to rock, so a smaller sub would be better right? would 2 15" L7s be loud enough |
Gold Member Username: Basshead86Ocala, FL USA Post Number: 2634 Registered: Aug-05 | the brahma is a SQ oriented driver. Kicker amps are very good for the money. |
Bronze Member Username: A444w444mPost Number: 77 Registered: Oct-05 | 2 ava's should be loud, u could try that, plus they don't take up much space, or u could go with 4 atlases |

Bronze Member Username: MaddrakkettPost Number: 32 Registered: Sep-05 | I'm kidding about the MTX Crap...Jackhammer sub. LOL L7s don't come in an 18" but their SoloX does. Since rock is your main style, I would stay smaller than 18" - I only suggested that because you said you wanted to make the whole neighborhood hear you. I guess with 18s or larger and a Bass Mekanik CD you could make the whole neighborhood FEEL you! Yeah, stay smaller, multiple 10s (a tighter bass), three or four 12s or a couple 15s should do nicely, but your $600 - $1000 price range will limit you on how many subs and is that price also needed to cover your enclosure? From what I see in the Kicker catalog and from knowing their quality back in the early '90s, I would think you could do well with their stuff. I really like how their SX amps have a digital display and keypad for adjustments (there's even a remote controller for making adjustments from your drivers seat!) and 32-bit digital signal processing on-board. Kicker's square subs provide more surface area for greater SPL, but square is not a good shape for musical SQ. Owner reviews confirm L7 and SX speakers to be much better at SPL than SQ. |
