blue man group has awesome sound. one of their albums I got is recorded in 5.1 channels. playing 5.1 music on the home theatre system really beats stereo recordings.

anyway, a good sound quality song I like is Colective Soul - December. nice highs, nice lows and a good voice.

1.) TOOL - Lateralus (the recording on this disc is one of the most natural, deep recordings I've ever heard, not to mention it's AWESOME)
2.) Tori Amos - Tales of a Librarian (a kind of greatest hits, the piano work is astouding)
3.) Nickel Creel - Why Should the Fire Die (Blue Grass sounding recording, instruments you don't normally hear and the recording is CLEAN)
4.) Stone Sour - Stone Sour (Corey Tyler of Slipknots GOOD band)
5.) Rammstein - Mutter, Reise Reise, Rosenrot (A German band that sounds amazing on a good deep stereo)
6.) Cold - A Different Kind of Pain (Colds latest cd, very progressive sounds beautiful)
7.) A Perfect Circle - 13th Step (Extremely organic and varied cd with Maynard of Tool as the lead singer)
I could go on with more but that's a good start for what I play across new systems when I want to see how they sound. All of those cd's have great record quality, and offer something a little different than the last one.

Jack Johnson - Banana Pancakes

That song sounds AMAZING on any type of high quality system. This song can also be used to show the differences between home audio tube amps and mosfet powered amps. The best part of the song is that most speakers will not be able to play the rain that's in the background of the song through out the whole song.

Hrmm...How about some Evanescence? They have some clear crisp sound, and not overdone bass. I've listened to them in my car and home systems, and it sounds excellent. Might I suggest some Shinedown as well. The new stuff lacks powerful bass, but has great mids and highs.

When I'm tuning my system I usually play linkin park. I find that they're especially good when you're adjusting your subs for SQ because they've got quite a bit of that "bump" rap sound, along with the clear rock sound so if you tune your stuff to sound good with linkin park songs, it'll usually sound good with everything you listen to.

Yea, let's use rap, some of the poorest recorded music that generally doesn't go below 60Hz. I'm sorry, but I've heard rock bands who's bass drum and bass guitar go down to 45Hz, so I don't think rap is the way to go. Chauncey, that's some good stuff there!

i listen to mostly alternative rock. i am kinda phasing out of rap. but i still listen to some of my fav rap songs.

they always rap about the same things. these are grown men, and all they have to talk about is money, drugs, sex, and are constantly degrading women. gets rather annoying.

i was JT Diesel...for a day. lol changed my name back from too much confusion.
