How do you actually bench test an amp to see what it's putting out? Is there anyway that I can do it myself or do you need special tools for that? Thanks everyone!
actually if u go to the "watt" section on the site. u enter the impedence. and use a DMM to find the volatage, enter it. and it tells u how many watts is being produced.
a key factor is to make sure the amp is getting clean continuous power though too.

to bench test an amp...
you unhook the speakers. test ohm load. hook speakers back up turn volume up to maz without distortion measure AC current of output of amp. then current squared diveded by the ohm load.
all you have to do is have an ampclamp and a DMM. (some ampclamps are also DMM's)
just hook up a speaker, and run a sine wave to it.
find your AC voltage and AC current using the clamp and DMM.
V * A = watts V / A = impedence
you can use those formulas to find power and box rise. since a speaker coil is an inductive load, your power and impedence will change as the frequency changes.
