Bass blocker advice

I'm trying to determine whether I need to install bass blockers or not. I'm installing alpine 170 a & 460a. I have a powered sub. There is no other amplification other than the sub. I'm hoping for good overall sound. Nothing mind numbing. Thanks...

I think that a crossover would be better that a bass blocker. Most amps have a crossover built in.

Use the bass blocker since you are not using an amp and take bass from radio.

If your sub is in a sealed box, set the highpass filter at 20 hz, and the low pass filter at 80 hz, each with a 12 - 18 db slope.

If the sub is in a ported box, set the highpass filter about 0 - 10 hz lower than the port tune, and leave the low pass at 80 hz like before.

bass blockers are ALWAYS a good idea... they allow you to not only stop distortion from crappy signal sent from the head unit, but if you ever do add an amp on the highs you play the highs alot louder without blowing them if there is no bass being sent to them
