Silver Member Username: Need4bassWe-Be-Swamps, Louisiana Post Number: 114 Registered: Oct-05 | I already have the Alpine on 4 subs (4 ohm load)so they are seeing 700watts from the Alpine. I'm looking for an amp for my comps now and really like the JL 450.4. I'd like to brand match so I was looking at loosing the MRD for the JL 500 which would only be 500watts into 4 Ohms, but it's JL. Would theses 2 amps be comparable inspite of the 200 watt difference? Should I just keep the Alpine? (I know the 1000 would be better but, it cost a bit more and is much harder to fit.) |

Post Number: 1703 Registered: Jul-05 | ok i saw it Electrical Overall Frequency Response 26Hz-200Hz Nominal Impedance 4 ohms Minimum Impedance 3.3 ohms Power Handling (continuous) 200 w Power Handling (peak) 400 w here's your amp specs 500W x 1 RMS (4ohm, 12.0V, 1% THD+N) 700W x 1 RMS (2ohm, 12.0V, 1% THD+N) 700W x 1 RMS (4ohm, 14.4V, 1% THD+N) 1000W x 1 RMS (2ohm, 14.4V, 1% THD+N) i figured u have your subs wired @ 4ohms ,right ? - cause that amp is only 2ohms stable & your subs can only be wired like this that Jl is only 500w which would imo be wasting what your subs can really do .....bottom line keep your Alpine !............. |
Silver Member Username: Need4bassWe-Be-Swamps, Louisiana Post Number: 124 Registered: Oct-05 | That's kind of what I was thinking. I like to brand match and the Alpine MRV-F545 is 125x4. I hate to waste the power on my rear fill. They don't make a decent 2 channel amp. So it's either bump to the JL 1000.1 or try another brand like MMATS or the new MB Quart line. They both make 1 ohm stable sub amps, but I think they are bigger than the Alpine Mono. |

Post Number: 1705 Registered: Jul-05 | Mmats are really good & surprisingly small for such powerful amps - hardly anybody on the forum even know they exists & just as powerful but considerably cheaper than JL . u can get the D1000.1 model (700wrms) cause its actually underpowered . how come u have 4 8s - 4 door pickup truck ? |

JL slash amps are awesome. and notive that the 700w formt he alpine is 14.4 volts. most cars runing will have a 13.8V. so your getting like 600sumin but the JL will give you like 550. yes still lower but great amp and it will match the 450/4 u may want to look into zapco, a zapco 750.2 is 750wrms at 4 ohms and highly underated(ive seen a birthsheet that stated 955wrms) and zapco makes a great amp for you components that is i think 125wrms each channel at 4 ohms. |

Silver Member Username: Need4bassWe-Be-Swamps, Louisiana Post Number: 130 Registered: Oct-05 | Initially I will keep the Alpine on the subs but, I'm going to switch to MMATS. So I'll get the MMATS SQ4150 for the comps and then swap out the Alpine for the MMATS D1500.1 |
