Instead of a distribution block...

Ok, here's my dilema
1: My amp has 8ga wire to it.
I'am running 4 ga from the battery.
Instead of a DB, can I buy a capacitor and wire the 4ga to it and then have my 8ga + wire connected to the cap??

2: if not.. I will need to ground my amp.. since its a 8ga wire.
If I do get a DB block with 4ga in and 8ga out... will I need to get a DB for my ground also,4ga to 8ga?

My 8ga wire will be no longer than 2 feet.

3: And If I get both a cap and DB... where should the cap be? between the DB and AMP or before the DB?
thanks

What kind of amp is it? you may need the 4 gauge after all, for the amp anyways that is.

i don't understand. if you have one amp, why have 4awg to 8awg??? why not just 8awg from battery???

from battery to cap to dist block to amp. there you go. a cap is not neccessary though......

The answer is yes to question 1.
Keep the wires from the cap to the amp 12" or less.

Yeah what Isaac said, sorry I didn't repost in time was doing something... Just run the 4 gauge to the CAP, Precharge it though or it won't have any purpose, then run the 8 gauge from there to the amp. No distrobution block needed, no hussle no mess. Just a clean install. lol
Oh yeah, try to use a 4 gauge ground wire if you can.

ok thanks.. Now since my amp has 8ga to it... should I get a DB block so I can hook up a 4ga wire for the ground on the chassis?

or that wont be necessary and the 8ga would be fine as a ground..?

the 8 will be fine for one amp. you basically want the same guage going out that's coming in.

You could use a bigger gauge ground, just to be safe though =)
