Gold Member Username: Basshead86Ocala, FL USA Post Number: 2276 Registered: Aug-05 | i would personally use the Hex's with the silk tweeter. i don't like harsh tweets, and the inverted metal dome Focal(if that's what it comes with), i was told it has a difficult time getting the imaging right in a car environment. you should ask your self if you like aggressive, or warm less bright tweeters. then decide on what component set would more suit you. hope that helps. |
Bronze Member Username: Need4bassPost Number: 21 Registered: Oct-05 | I have always been partial to a soft dome tweet. I have had many people rave about the focals though. Thats why I was looking for people who actually have or have heard them. Are there better options in the same price range? |
Gold Member Username: Basshead86Ocala, FL USA Post Number: 2297 Registered: Aug-05 | how much are the focals, and the hex's? |
Bronze Member Username: Need4bassPost Number: 23 Registered: Oct-05 | I'm willing to pay up to $375 per set. I need 2 sets. |
Gold Member Username: Basshead86Ocala, FL USA Post Number: 2299 Registered: Aug-05 | hmmmm.. how about some DLS Magnesium Drivers. great power handling, and they sound Fantastic. nto sure if they are 375 though. |
Bronze Member Username: Need4bassPost Number: 24 Registered: Oct-05 | How about a link to a particular DLS model? |
Bronze Member Username: Need4bassPost Number: 25 Registered: Oct-05 | I found a pair of DLS MS6 Reference Series for $250. How are these? |
Gold Member Username: Basshead86Ocala, FL USA Post Number: 2303 Registered: Aug-05 | those are the ones i was taling about. Very Nice set of speakers. they get very loud as well. my audioshop installed just one set of those in a mazda miata, and you could have sworn there was an 8" sub sealed in the trunk. lol |

Bronze Member Username: Need4bassPost Number: 26 Registered: Oct-05 | Would it be worth it to say use the MS6 in the rear and bump to a UP6 or UR6 for the front? |
Bronze Member Username: OlogyaudioColumbus, Oh USA Post Number: 20 Registered: Oct-05 | Got something for ya to take a look at: http://www.ologyaudio.com/reviews.html There are some decent comparisons of a few component sets near the price there. |
Bronze Member Username: Need4bassPost Number: 36 Registered: Oct-05 | They look a little large... I have read on the Ologyaudios before. I plan on sticking with a production run comp set though. |

Bronze Member Username: Need4bassPost Number: 47 Registered: Oct-05 | The focal hard domes are truely that harsh???? "Focals are great if you like that banging trash cans together sound" -- like that made by a good pair of MB Quarts ?? |

Bronze Member Username: T0astyPost Number: 35 Registered: Jul-05 | i like mb quarts |
Bronze Member Username: OlogyaudioColumbus, Oh USA Post Number: 32 Registered: Oct-05 | haha well I'm not sure what you meant by production run... but if you mean custom drivers... preorders for some are starting in the next 2 weeks or so after we confirm that the prototype meets specs... ;) |
Bronze Member Username: VinnyqhPortland, OR Post Number: 16 Registered: Nov-05 | MB Quarts are bright as well. I would definately go with the diamonds. Those things sound truely amazing, a little less bright then most speakers, but the most natural. You can probably look into Boston Acoustics Pro60s also. Those are nice speakers as well. If you can make it happen, the diamond hex 3 ways are phenomenal (sp?)! I love the way they image and the sound is superb! |
