No you dont have to, but it would be a much more enjoyable meal if yo did. lol
If you want to get the potential out of the speakers than yes you need to amp them, however you can run them off the HU as well. (The HU has an amp built into it as well, however it only puts out about 17-22 wRMS depending on the model)
