Ok I have a sony xplode 2 channel 1000 watt amp xm-2165gtx and I know that sony over rates there amps. What I want to know is what is the real wattage for it. I am running two 12" memphis audio speakers (15-PR124D) on it. The rms for them I was told by my local car audio dealer was 250 and its peak was 500. He told me to run my amp low so not to blow the speakers, but when I did this they just didn't seem to be hitting as hard as I thought they should, especially since the guy claims them to be better then most of the higher end mtx subwoofers of the same class. Can anyone help me out in this mess?
If your going to run your subs it would be better to get a Mono-Block amp to push it not a 2-channel, also that amp MAYBE putting out 100-200 per channel.
