New member Username: ArhsaabVermont USA Post Number: 3 Registered: Sep-05 | Hey, I'm going to get an Kicker 8" DVC that handles 200w RMS and 400w peak. What is the best amp out of these three to push this little guy? 1-http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=14177 2-http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=14517 3-http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=13423 Thanks in advance for all the help! |

Post Number: 891 Registered: Jul-05 | Nice sub but why only a SINGLE 8" ??? really lacking space ? don't know if u researched but http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp so u will need a amp that does around 200wrms @ 2ohms so none of those amps would work . maybe this'll do -http://sonicelectronix.com/item_3706.html |
New member Username: ArhsaabVermont USA Post Number: 6 Registered: Sep-05 | Wow you guys are SO MUCH HELP! I love this forum already. Only a single 8" because i have a Saab and it hauls sooo much crap...and i ski/bike a lot. I dont want to lose that cargo area. Also, I have a really nice 8" sub box for FREE. Whats better than FREE? nothing. thanks |
New member Username: ArhsaabVermont USA Post Number: 7 Registered: Sep-05 | Wait...that amp is a mono amp....it wont work. I dont understand why i cant use an amp that puts out 100wRMS X 2 @ 2ohms..doesnt that equal a total of 200w RMS, which is what the sub is built for...? |
Silver Member Username: RovinTrinidad & T... Post Number: 901 Registered: Jul-05 | RF amp specs 50 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms 100 watts RMS x 2 at 2 ohms 200 watts RMS x 1 bridged output at 4 ohms your sub is a DVC 4ohm sub meaning each coil is 4ohms - so u see how specs above fall way short when u connect 2) 4ohms coils together it = 2ohms PG amp specs - # 2 ohms power output: 200 watts peak /175 watts RMS so u get it now ? even this'll work http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=13289 or http://sonicelectronix.com/item_2789.html |
New member Username: ArhsaabVermont USA Post Number: 8 Registered: Sep-05 | I thought it had to have 2 channels because of the DVC. Arent there like 2 sets of connections?..Can someone just tell me what to buy? Im wicked embarrassed b/c i dont know anything, but thanks for putting up with me. |

(then you just wire the sub in series and bridge the amp). |
New member Username: ArhsaabVermont USA Post Number: 9 Registered: Sep-05 | So i can get that kicker 4 ohm version and a mono amp that puts out like 150-200w and i will be set?? its beginning to make sense...haha wow im intelligent |

(plus, the 8" compVR is cheaper on this site ) |
Gold Member Username: SouthernrebelMonroe, Louisiana USA Post Number: 1126 Registered: Mar-04 | yea...the dvc 4ohm version will work on the mono amp that Rovin suggested. |
New member Username: ArhsaabVermont USA Post Number: 10 Registered: Sep-05 | Yay so i finally figured it out..so thats the amp to go for? Anything else to consider? |
Gold Member Username: SouthernrebelMonroe, Louisiana USA Post Number: 1129 Registered: Mar-04 | amp kit and box |
Silver Member Username: RovinTrinidad & T... Post Number: 907 Registered: Jul-05 | Mono amps are rec for subs because they are more efficient than 2 or 4 channel amp - does not necessarily mean that a 2 chan amp must be used on DVC type subs . Heck u can power 4 or more subs using a single MONO amp . U have 2 choices : 2 chan amp with a DVC 2ohm sub OR Mono amp with a DVC 4ohm sub I'd buy the JL (with the 4ohm DVC) cause its the best out of those other amps mentioned in this thread ... |
Silver Member Username: RovinTrinidad & T... Post Number: 908 Registered: Jul-05 | the choices above are based on products in this thread & doesn't necessarily apply on amps or subs in general ..... |
Bronze Member Username: ArhsaabVermont USA Post Number: 11 Registered: Sep-05 | I have the box, and I'm getting it professionally installed b/c i know people at a really reputable car audio shop. I'm going with the kicker 4ohm sub and the MTX amp [i think..maybe JL]. Thanks so much for everything... |
