Gold Member Username: Basshead86Ocala, FL USA Post Number: 1621 Registered: Aug-05 | i just ordered one through my audioshop, and will be getting it installed some time next week. it was ordered from Remax, not sure who that is, but he said they are really nice. it does 220A, above or at idle. and it does 15.2V at idle, and 13.8 with a full load. all in all it is going to cost me around $470. just figured i would share the good news. |
Bronze Member Username: Comp98Philadelphia, PA USA Post Number: 14 Registered: Sep-05 | great news..congrats!..plan on getting a HO alternator myself as soon as I decide on subs. |
Bronze Member Username: DeezelPost Number: 69 Registered: Jul-05 | that's awesome man! I plan on getting a HO alternator as soon as someone starts making one for my Xterra. |
New member Username: Dz4389Post Number: 6 Registered: Sep-05 | 220 alt for 1 idmax well atleast ur prepared if maybe u need a generator. just hook up ur house to the car |
Gold Member Username: Basshead86Ocala, FL USA Post Number: 1624 Registered: Aug-05 | really, you can't find one for your Xterra? those have been out for a while now haven't they?(i mean the suv itself) |
Gold Member Username: Basshead86Ocala, FL USA Post Number: 1625 Registered: Aug-05 | i used GW's formula on his website to determine how big of an alt i would need, and it is like 221.5A you take your systems wattage, divide it by 12, multiply by 1.4(i multiplied by 1.4), and that is how many Amps of current your system will pull at full power. then you add your stock alt's amps, and that gives you a safe figure to go by when buying a HO alt. i multiplied all of my wattage by 1.4 b/c both of my amps are Class A/B. you multiply by 1.2 to get the amps needed for your class D amplifier. and you multiply by 1.4 to get the amps needed for your class A/B amplifier. |
Bronze Member Username: DeezelPost Number: 70 Registered: Jul-05 | They redesigned it for 2005; the Xterra. The engine is also on a new platform, simliar to that of the Inifini G35. So, as of now, no HO alt for me. |
Gold Member Username: Basshead86Ocala, FL USA Post Number: 1632 Registered: Aug-05 | mmmmmmmm.....i wish i wasn't so impatient. lol i wish it was next week already!!!! |
Gold Member Username: CarguyPost Number: 4405 Registered: Nov-04 | It'll get worse next week. But the wait will be worth it. It's like being Christmas in September. |
Gold Member Username: Basshead86Ocala, FL USA Post Number: 1638 Registered: Aug-05 | yup, the days will feel longer and longer the closer i get to having it installed. lol |
Gold Member Username: Basshead86Ocala, FL USA Post Number: 1639 Registered: Aug-05 | i can't find any info on Google about this company(Remax), but the guy he ordered it from said that i will be very very happy with it. |
Gold Member Username: CarguyPost Number: 4406 Registered: Nov-04 | ReMax is residential and commercial real estate company in Canada. They sell houses! Maybe they make HO alternators as a side business, you think? Just kidding. |
Gold Member Username: Basshead86Ocala, FL USA Post Number: 1641 Registered: Aug-05 | lol, that was all i saw when i typed it in on Google. i will ask him if he knows if the company goes by any othr name the next time i see him. |
Bronze Member Username: ThigpenRVA, Va Usa Post Number: 73 Registered: Sep-05 | if my car already runs at like 12.5-13 volts without my subs in my car yet would it be a good idea to get an alternator? |
Gold Member Username: CarguyPost Number: 4408 Registered: Nov-04 | If you're getting 12.5v-13v now, then something's wrong with your alternator. It should be 13.8v or higher without any load. |

Gold Member Username: Mikechec9Http://www.cardomain.c... Gold Member Username: Basshead86Ocala, FL USA Post Number: 1710 Registered: Aug-05 | i talked to the one of the guys at my audioshop, and he said the name of the company is Reman, not Remax(real estate lol) but i still can't find any info online about them |
Gold Member Username: Basshead86Ocala, FL USA Post Number: 1727 Registered: Aug-05 | i'm becoming very frustrated. i CAN'T find any info on this company. but i will be paying for the alternator today. it is still hard to let go of $470, when i can't even see it. LOL i hope it's not some g@y color like red or hot green. LOL |
Bronze Member Username: Vic_in_explorerSanford, Florida United States Post Number: 17 Registered: Jul-05 | Do you know if it will install like factory alternator (size, bolt patterns, etc.) or is simiar to factory specs |
Bronze Member Username: Comp98Philadelphia, PA USA Post Number: 28 Registered: Sep-05 | I can only get a 180amp alt. according to excessive amperage.com. I want a 220 dammit! |
Gold Member Username: SouthernrebelMonroe, Louisiana USA Post Number: 1112 Registered: Mar-04 | 220A at idle...dayum, thats a h3ll of an alt muddy. what do yall think about dual 180A alts? i have a buddy that just graduated from the Nashville Auto-Diesel Academy, he can rebuild my old stock 100A alt to a 180A just like the HO-alt i run right now. (parts are like $50-$75) I need to find a bracket to mount dual alts w/ though Anyone know where i can get such a bracket for a 98 chevy silverado w/ a 4.3L V6? |
Gold Member Username: Basshead86Ocala, FL USA Post Number: 1731 Registered: Aug-05 | i found out the ACTUAL NAME OF THE COMPANY!! lol they are called USA Reman Inc. they are based out of Orlando, FL. and it is direct-bolt-on |
Gold Member Username: Mikechec9Http://www.cardomain.c... Post Number: 1076 Registered: May-05 | rebuilt alternators almost always fail. there are too many trade-offs. hence the significantly higher cost of new/originally built ones. |
Gold Member Username: Basshead86Ocala, FL USA Post Number: 1734 Registered: Aug-05 | it is a remanufactured alternator. not rebuilt. |
Silver Member Username: Alias747MN Post Number: 724 Registered: Apr-05 | I'd like to think that remanufactured and rebuilt are basically the same thing. Your saying that this is $470, I think Acessive Amperage could build you a new one for less, couldn't they? |
Gold Member Username: Basshead86Ocala, FL USA Post Number: 1737 Registered: Aug-05 | i think that mikechec was talking to marshall, not me. remanufactured means they buy one, and rip out the guts and put better parts in it. rebuilt means that they took one that was broken/not working, and fixed it. |
Gold Member Username: Basshead86Ocala, FL USA Post Number: 1738 Registered: Aug-05 | my alt was $375 i got it for about $20-$25 over dealer cost then the other $100 was taxes and install. |

Gold Member Username: Basshead86Ocala, FL USA Post Number: 1817 Registered: Aug-05 | oh, and the alternator casing is off of a Ford Tempo/Topaz b/c that was the biggest one that would still fit directly on to my car(it comes with small spacers) and be able to hold all of the "guts" of the new parts.(notice the offset bolt insert in the pic with the shoe and the quarter) |
Silver Member Username: Iufan4lifeulPost Number: 495 Registered: May-05 | Rovin, that better be some exagerration there because it is physically impossible to live 9,000 miles away. The earth is about 13,500 miles in diameter so therefore the farthest you could live would be 6,750 miles away. OH GOD, i am such a nerd. |
