Hi people, just wondering if its possible to take the sub from my computer stereo system and put it into my truck. The sub requires a 10 volt DC adaptor. please either tell im crazy or post a possible solution. thank you
Wow, I hear something new everyday. I mean, people wanting to run car subs for home theater is crazy enough, but a no more than 30W (since computer speaker ratings are 99% all lies) in a car? That's not gonna be any different than what you're running now. That is crazy. Buy a car sub. Buy a Sony Xplod before you go doing that. And that's something I would never recommend, the purchasing of Sony gear.
My computer has a subwoofer too, but its a 10" PSB subwoofer. If the sub you have is a standard mini sub that came with 2 sattelite speakers, you wouldn't even hear it in your car. Sure it may sound good when sitting on your desk, but in your trunk, or even under your seat, it wouldn't be noticable. Plus, you'd have no way to power it. You'd have to either buy a 120VAC converter for your car or start cutting wires if it turns out that the amp actually runs on DC power.
I remember reading a thread on this same topic in some other section some mths back . Anything is possible but the results in car would not be the same & besides its too much trouble to go through .
But note : we all play music in our cars 5 - 10 times louder than we would @ home so i doubt that any pc speaker can satisfy us even though my home pc 5.1 Ssound system comes with a 10" woofer & really rocks - i might something still want louder in my ride .....
