Can anyone explain to me, or send me a link to somewhere that can explain what size speaker wire to use in what applications? Does it matter what gauge wire I use from my sub to my amp? For example what gauge would I use for 400w rms? Basically if someone could send me a scale of the power handling of the different gauges and when to use them I would be forever grateful.
speaker wire isn't that vital for size. Not like power wire. for speakers, here's a good rule of thumb: for subs, use14ga up to 10ga, depending on how fancy you want it to look. fo rcomponents, 18ga-16ga is fine.
hehe i use 12 awg for everything in my car - components to subs...that way i'll almost never have any resistance problems with the components and as long as i stay under like 1500w rms for my sub, ill be fine there
