Gold Member Username: Jonathan_fGA USA Post Number: 4500 Registered: May-04 | I saw a study that said that the Pinto was actually on par safety wise with the all other compacts, there was just a big uproar because Ford ignored to fix the problem and basically chose to pay the insurance money for a few fatalities (insurance was only $200,000) rather than pay the extra cost to improve the rear of the car. Only 20 something deaths with over 2 million cars sold, no worse than anything else at the time. It was interesting, but I still wouldn't drive a Pinto, though, unless my only other option was a Vega  |
