Orion 1200D: too much power for IDMax 12D2?

My friend's selling me his 1200D but I want to make sure I don't blow my sub. I know the sub's power handling is rated at 1000W rms and the Orion is 1200. Will this hurt it, or can the sub take it?

just turn the gain down.
when you feel its time for a more powerful sub, you'll have the power necesseary.
