Friday, August 12, 2005 - 06:55 GMT The ohms of the voice coils on the subs affect what kind of a load you can use on your amp. If you have 2 dual 2 ohm subs you can wire in a .5, 2, or 8 ohm load. If you wire 2 dual 4 ohms subs you can wire in a 1 or 4 ohm load. You can get many different wiring diagrams on the net that will help you out with what ohms you need to get for you sub and amp combo.

Friday, August 12, 2005 - 06:57 GMT for every half of an ohm load, you double or half the power. ex. 4ohms 100 watts, 2ohms 200 watts, 1ohm 400 watts.

Friday, August 12, 2005 - 06:59 GMT thats not always the case...in theory that is true but in real life sometimes the power doesnt dbl as the ohm load decreases but usually it tends to

Friday, August 12, 2005 - 07:07 GMT ok.. another quick question...why if you bridge a 2 channel amp together..it sees ((as an ex.)) a 4ohm sub as a 2ohm ? and is using a 1 ohm better or worse then a 4ohm?...why? do any of the loads hurt the subs?...do any sound better or are they just different ways to get power out of your amps? any preference?

Friday, August 12, 2005 - 07:10 GMT when you bridge a sub it doesnt see a 4ohm sub as a 2ohm..it sees it as the 4ohm sub it is...ohm load does not afect the performance or life of a subwoofer, all it is is just a way to get power from your amp

Friday, August 12, 2005 - 07:34 GMT i had my fingers crossed ! the subs are 500 watts RMS each... parallel wiring would obviously make it 1000 watts RMS...correct?? so i would need a mono amp with 1000 watts RMS?

Friday, August 12, 2005 - 07:59 GMT no, my first posts was talking about the amp not the sub. Parallel wiring makes the subs have a 1ohm load for the amp to push. you still need to get a 1000 watt amp though since both subs are 500w rms.
