New member Username: Subzro2020Memphis, TN Post Number: 4 Registered: Aug-05 | well I got this from a site, so they may be... if anyone can find any more accurate numbers please let me know... |
New member Username: Subzro2020Memphis, TN Post Number: 5 Registered: Aug-05 | well... okay Adire recommends wiring at 1ohm, where orion recommends 2 ohm... I haven't had a too great of history with subs, but I want this setup to work. So mainly, I just don't want this to blow, but I really want this setup. All I wanna basically know is, will this blow the sub if the gain is set low enough? |
Gold Member Username: AraknidBOCA , FL U.S. Post Number: 1052 Registered: Nov-04 | you need a DVC 2 ohm brahma if you want the 1200 watts. |
Gold Member Username: AraknidBOCA , FL U.S. Post Number: 1053 Registered: Nov-04 | wired in parallel of course. |
New member Username: Subzro2020Memphis, TN Post Number: 6 Registered: Aug-05 | lamens terms? |
New member Username: Subzro2020Memphis, TN Post Number: 7 Registered: Aug-05 | DVC= ? I'm a noob sorry I know what parallel wiring is... |
New member Username: Subzro2020Memphis, TN Post Number: 8 Registered: Aug-05 | nevermind cleared it up on my own |
New member Username: Subzro2020Memphis, TN Post Number: 9 Registered: Aug-05 | bought the sub and amp years ago, used to know stuff about them... then got a car two years later, forgot everything about caraudio and found them and wanted to put those bad boys in... |
Gold Member Username: AraknidBOCA , FL U.S. Post Number: 1054 Registered: Nov-04 | Oh crap my bad you need: dvc 4 ohm(dual voice coil consisting of two 4 ohm voice coils) wired in parallel to get a 2 ohm load. the amp puts out 1200 watts at 2 ohm according to the specs that you gave. Sorry i mixed up the RMS output specs when I looked at them to fast. |
Silver Member Username: Mikechec9Chicago/atlanta Post Number: 634 Registered: May-05 | hey scott. if your amp is truly 1200 watts@ 2ohms, you will first require a sub that is 4ohms DVC in order to acieve that 1200watts. let me be the first to tell you though, that the brahma does not need any more than 800watts in a 1.2 sealed enclosure to achieve xmax (total excursion). also to the untrained ear they are not impossible to damage. it happens frequently when overpowered irresponsibly. if you do want to overpower them i would not recommend an enclosure larger than that 1cu ft suggestion. i am running them (overpowered) in 1ft cu and they actually make me realize how poor all my other subs actually sounded (i went back and listened to them to compare). the smaller the enclosure, the more power required to reach xmax. check your amp. if you can get 800-900 watts at 4ohms then that would be your best/safest bet. i'm presuming your sub is also a dvc 2ohm sub. |
Gold Member Username: AraknidBOCA , FL U.S. Post Number: 1057 Registered: Nov-04 | oh he already owns this stuff. If you can't run it at 1 ohm then theres nothin you can do but run it at 4 ohms and recieve around 600 watts. |
Silver Member Username: Mikechec9Chicago/atlanta Post Number: 636 Registered: May-05 | if it only puts out 600 watts, you will still pound with great quality. i would throw it in about a 1.5 cu ft sealed box. here's a guide: http://www.adireaudio.com/Files/BrahmaPowerHandling.pdf |
New member Username: Subzro2020Memphis, TN Post Number: 10 Registered: Aug-05 | Yes, the Brahma I have is DVC, How would I go about running this amp and sub at 4 ohms? I also was thinking about a Stinger HPM AGU Fused Digital Distribution Block. Would this help any? |
Bronze Member Username: Subzro2020Memphis, TN Post Number: 11 Registered: Aug-05 | However, I CAN get my hands on a Rockford Fosgate 1600w amp. If the situation calls for it... I really do not want to let this amp go as it is such a great amp, and eventually wish to run two of the 12" brahmas.... with upgraded alternator of course. I want to see how one sub sounds first. |
Gold Member Username: James1115Wilton, Ct Post Number: 3829 Registered: Dec-04 | stick with that orion amp, do what Mikechec said run it series/parellel at 4ohms in 1.5cu/ft and it will sound great. I ran my brahma with a ppi a600 with 600watts at 4ohms and it got nice and loud |
