New member Username: ShwayPost Number: 1 Registered: Aug-05 | Hey, Im new to this site and very new to subwoofers. I recently got kenwood 6"X8" and 5 1/4 kenwood speakers with a kenwood headunit from crutchfield. Awesome stuff, sounds great just need some kick. I like to be able to seriously feel the music. Im talking like 1000 watts or so. (Also want to show up some guys, you know how it is). So I was looking, and wondering what everyone thought about a 10" (or 12", not sure) Alpine SWX 1000 rms sounded good to me! Anyways what do you all think??? If it is a good choice, what kind of amp??? Or should I go for 2 SWR's or something. What would really hit harder and sound better??? Thanks! |

Silver Member Username: Rob315Cuse, NY U.S. Post Number: 544 Registered: Jan-05 | the type r's are puder than the type x with 1000 watts...and the r's will take that all day.....id go with the type r's...excellent driver. |
Silver Member Username: Sancho886El Cajon, CA US Post Number: 205 Registered: Jun-04 | James, how much are you asking for the avalanche? would you trade for something? |
Silver Member Username: CenusHicksville, Ohio Usa Post Number: 390 Registered: Jan-05 | no prob. and i would have to agree, i'd take a avalanch over a type r or x any day. and AA no longer makes them with the xbl motor so thier value won't go down. |
Silver Member Username: Rob315Cuse, NY U.S. Post Number: 547 Registered: Jan-05 | lol....puder = louder |
New member Username: ShwayPost Number: 2 Registered: Aug-05 | ok, so two type R's are a better way to go then type X. Or I should go avalanch. |

Gold Member Username: James1115Wilton, Ct Post Number: 3795 Registered: Dec-04 | well since you cant get a REXXX now I would have to say ava will be much better then the alpine's, they are in different classes. The AVA uses the same motor as the REXXX,and adire Brahma. It is an excellent SQ sub and has a low end frequency response of 15hz. |
Gold Member Username: James1115Wilton, Ct Post Number: 3796 Registered: Dec-04 | also it has a completely flat BL curve up to 22mm of x-max which is very good. |
Silver Member Username: LettoMilwaukee, WI Post Number: 132 Registered: Jun-05 | Go with the ava. |
Silver Member Username: CenusHicksville, Ohio Usa Post Number: 396 Registered: Jan-05 | ya go with the avalanch, its a lot better than the alpines, and it will have very good sq while still being able to get loud. |
New member Username: ShwayPost Number: 3 Registered: Aug-05 | Where do you get Avalanche, ive never heard of them... ??? |

Silver Member Username: AraknidBOCA , FL U.S. Post Number: 977 Registered: Nov-04 | Actually, I just compared the spec sheets for the home use one and the car one and I did not see a single difference in the spec sheets so I have no idea if they changed anything or they are going to change anything but it looks like they took the home version and stuck it in the car section. |
muddywaters Unregistered guest | TReos all the way, for the money....there arent many that perform, not to say that treo is the best because i'm not brainwashed into following any particular line of subs, but they do perform. There is an audioshop in Ocala, FL(Audionutz) that has a green 300zx with 2 treo ssx 12's with 2,000 watts rms on each one and it hits at 152 decibels. just something to think about..... |
