Silver Member Username: Kd7nfrMontpelier, ID United States Post Number: 484 Registered: Apr-05 | You can try it, but I'm almost positive it won't. They call that Iso-barik and I believe it makes it louder. Mess around, I don't have enough time to put it all into the computer and see if it would. |

Gold Member Username: GlasswolfWisteria, Lane USA Post Number: 8443 Registered: Dec-03 | the more important question here is what makes you think inverting the sub would make it louder? |
Silver Member Username: Audiobass10Cape Coral, FL United States Post Number: 186 Registered: Jul-05 | Inverting a sub has no real benifits other than getting more space out of your enclosure. It will not make your subwoofer any louder than it already is, and it's not iso-barik either. |

Gold Member Username: GlasswolfWisteria, Lane USA Post Number: 8475 Registered: Dec-03 | Chris, simply put, the speaker rests at dead center. When it's in use, it moves back and forth, but it moves the same distance in each direction from center. Thus, facing the speaker either direction will move the same amount of air in both directions really, thus no change in SPL by inversion of the driver. Now, if this is a bandpass box, and one of the chambers is ported, remember the speaker itself takes up volume in the box, and the ports are tuned to a specific frequency based on the volume of the box after adding displacement of the speaker, and volume of the port itself. When you invert a sub in a ported chamber, you remove the mass of the driver from the airspace inside the box, thus altering the tuned frequency of the ports. This can be detrimental to performance of the enclosure itself. |

Anonymous | Dont you have to change the polarity when you do that? |

Gold Member Username: SubfanaticKy Post Number: 4592 Registered: Dec-04 | just to elaborate on what jake and dave said about an isobaric box, just so this doesnt come up again, its also called a clamshell box, This is basicallly a sealed box, with on subwoofer mounted inside and one mounted outside, FACING the OTHER, this wont double your bass becasue your using two usbs, it is essentail that one is wired in poarity and other is wired out of polarity so they both travel in the same direction, otherwise they would simply distroy eachtoher |
