WC Unregistered guest | Someone said that 2 4 ohm DVC can be wired down to 2 ohms? Is that true? |

Bronze Member Username: Shadow1290Post Number: 21 Registered: Jul-05 | yes, wire them in parallel and it wil creat a 2 ohm load Speaker + - /\ + - \__ __/ +terminal Wire the Posotive speaker terminal individally to both posotive terminals on both speaker coils (do same for Negative) Wil Post link Later |
Bronze Member Username: Shadow1290Post Number: 22 Registered: Jul-05 | http://www.installdr.com/TechDocs/999016.pdf remember you want parallel he obiousley has no concept of ohms law -amatures- dont post unless you know what your talking about |
Bronze Member Username: Shadow1290Post Number: 23 Registered: Jul-05 | its sad when his own websight that he posted says that yes you can **SIGH** Do you understand what i told you + the links |
Gold Member Username: GlasswolfWisteria, Lane USA Post Number: 8222 Registered: Dec-03 | if you have a two channel amplifier, yes you can get a stereo 2 ohm load with a pair of dual 4 ohm coil subs If you have a mono amp and two 4 ohm DVC subs, you'll need a 1 ohm stable amp, or an amp that puts out desired power at 4 ohms. you won't get a 2 ohm mono load with that sub configuration. |
Bronze Member Username: Shadow1290Post Number: 25 Registered: Jul-05 | thanks glasswolf for the reideration! and make sure your amp is 1 ohm stable |
Silver Member Username: JaackdethUnited States Post Number: 212 Registered: Sep-04 | Josh, look again, it says that 2 Dual voice coils that are 4ohms can be wired to 2 DVC drivers with Voice Coils in Parallel / Parallel Connecting the voice coils of each driver in parallel (+ to +, - to -) and the drivers themselves in parallel (+ to +, etc.) will result in the following impedances: Dual-6 Ohm Subwoofers: 1.5 Ohms Dual-4 Ohm Subwoofers: 1 Ohm Dual-2 Ohm Subwoofers: 0.5 Ohm |
WC Unregistered guest | Yea ok, all those look like SVC, not DVC. |
Silver Member Username: JaackdethUnited States Post Number: 213 Registered: Sep-04 | N/M I though he said 2 subs! My mistake!!! |
Bronze Member Username: Shadow1290Post Number: 27 Registered: Jul-05 | your going to argure with me and especially Glasswolf(<-- he is probably the most audio effeicent person on this forum) |
WC Unregistered guest | YES thanx wolf, I have a post on here called Sub box with subs question, some fool said I can wire doen to 2 ohms, hey can you read that post and help me out? |
Bronze Member Username: Shadow1290Post Number: 28 Registered: Jul-05 | it's ok we all make mistakes |
Silver Member Username: JaackdethUnited States Post Number: 214 Registered: Sep-04 | Josh, check out the post above you, I agree, I thought he said 2 subs, my mistake |
Bronze Member Username: Shadow1290Post Number: 29 Registered: Jul-05 | dvc=dual voice coil 2@4 ohms each would have been clearer |
Gold Member Username: GlasswolfWisteria, Lane USA Post Number: 8224 Registered: Dec-03 | no harm no foul. sometimes it's hard to be clear when talking about DVC subs, too.. that's why I always say "dual 2 ohm coils" instead of 2 ohm DVC. I try to be clear about the load per coil so as not to get mixed up. |
clintolner Unregistered guest | I bought 2 6 ohm dual coil 800 watt subs, how should i power and wire them? |
Gold Member Username: GlasswolfWisteria, Lane USA Post Number: 8326 Registered: Dec-03 | should have thought about that before buying those subs dual 6 ohm coil subs are designed for a mono amp with 3 subwoofers. |
