Tuesday, July 12, 2005 - 18:34 GMT Does it matter where a port is on a box? Should it be below the sub, in a corner or does it even matter? Also, are round ports better than square vents and which is easier to build and work with (all the math involved)

Tuesday, July 12, 2005 - 19:54 GMT for best results it is better to have the port on the same plane as the speaker, and round ports tend to give you a more linear sound.

Tuesday, July 12, 2005 - 19:56 GMT also round ports take up less volume in a box then a slot port will, but the slot will help reduce port whistle.

Tuesday, July 12, 2005 - 21:45 GMT "for best results it is better to have the port on the same plane as the speaker" Tell that to everyone running CRX type boxes. "round ports take up less volume in a box then a slot port will, but the slot will help reduce port whistle." All things being equal( port area and tuning) then they both have the same volume. Having enough port area is what stops whistle.
