A ported box is typically +3 Db and bandpass is +4. Bandpass is said to have less SQ then the other designs of enclosures but SQ is more of a personal preferance so some poeple may say it sounds awful but others may think it is the god of enclosures. So you would have to hear for youself.

is 1+ db that big of a difference? and if u had lets say kicker 15 l7 and you put them in a banpass box would that not give you more spl? why not you dont have sq any way?
Bandpass can offer more than 4 db, it can range from 6 to 12db. Depends on the subwoofer used. If you want SPL in a very narrow frequency range and SQ over a wide frequency range isn't a concern, bandpass is your box. If you want more musicality with an SPL boost over sealed, ported is the way to go.
