I've got a Jl 10w3 DVC(250 watts rms) and a ported box build specifically for it... i was just wondering if the JL e1200 amp (200 watts rms) would be decent... does anyone know???

this will also be my first system

also, i had three of those and fed them close to 250w each. beat hard and very well. wished i had given them closer to 400watts (at least 300) though. their rms is very modestly rated.
i subscribe to the belief that it is better to overpower your sub than to underpower. the latter oftentimes leads to clipping because of pushing the driver too hard with too little power. this leads to driver damage=poo poo. jmo

I don't know about that. It's still a heck of a lot easier to suprass the thermal limit of a speaker by overpowering it. Clipping is audible, voice coil deformation or melting, on the other hand isn't noticable until it's too late in most cases.
