mikey-t Unregistered guest | right i have on order a resonant engineering sx 12" i have the box ready built to correct size and volumes im just struggling to find a decent amp with my dwindling money! a friend out there said a 1 ohm stable monoblock amp would be most cost effective! a) i cant find a cheap one b) how do you set up a 1 ohm system???? sorry for being clueless! help is appreciated |
Silver Member Username: GeekbikePost Number: 252 Registered: Dec-04 | a) Cheap meaning how much exactly? b) The SX's are dual 2, so you just have to hook them up in parallel. |
mikey-t Unregistered guest | cheap as in up to 800 pounds sterling mate! cheers for advice! |
Silver Member Username: Mikechec9Chicago/atlanta Post Number: 322 Registered: May-05 | that's about 1,400 USD. you can get about any amp you want. as usual, i would go with the ED Nine.1. it is currently on sale for 300.00, free shipping. http://www.edesignaudio.com/us.php 1200watts@1ohm. wiring to 1ohm http://www.jlaudio.com/tutorials/wiring/#1dvcp |

mikey-t Unregistered guest | bloodyhell thats a good price for that amp!!! looks damn nice and has a good output! cant see that being fussed with a single 12" sx!!! and yes im in the uk,, maybe being stupid but cant see a tutorial on setting up 1 ohm on that link or am i missing it |
mikey-t Unregistered guest | ahhh its ok found a link for 1 ohm set up on that amp site!!! within the next few weeks that`ll all be done then!!! what kind of db can i expect with this setup? the entire car has been sound deadened allready! |

Silver Member Username: Mikechec9Chicago/atlanta Post Number: 345 Registered: May-05 | not certain. but here is a fairly good example w/1000watts of power. http://realmofexcursion.com/videos/Resonant%20Engineering/sx12.3.wmv |
mikey-t Unregistered guest | right next question!! i got 2 diffrent plans for an enclosure off the re website but neither mentions what thickness mdf/ marine board to use. i would of thought by looking at most installs 20 mm is best, also doesnt mention wether the measurements are inside the nclosure or external measurements |
Silver Member Username: Mikechec9Chicago/atlanta Post Number: 352 Registered: May-05 | yop. you nailed it (no pun intended). your box width should be at least 20mm (3/4 in). if they give you LxWxH, it is exterior dimensions. if they gave you volume, then it's interior. |
mikey-t Unregistered guest | right ,so i have the sub choice! now got the amp choice! i know how big the box will be and what design! got the headunit (a clarion by the way) now i need to deliberate wether a split charge system and seperate battery will be beneficial! and what components etc to use! hmmmm decisions decisions |
mikey-t Unregistered guest | hehehe my original box seems rather inferior to the monster i have planned now |
