well a few months ago i bought an alpine deck. and up until lately it's worked very well. yesterday i was driving and my speakers started to crackle a little. i figured they were blown. so today i get in the car and the speakers are cutting it and out. now there is absolutely no sound at all coming from the speakers. the HU will turn on and seem to work fine. but there's not sound at all. can someone help me? what should i do? could it just be a bad fuse? or is it probably the HU itself? my amp isn't turning on either. it's like there's no power getting to the component speakers or the amp for the subs.

i don't know what to do and i don't want to drive much longer without a cd player.

sounds more like a speaker problem. the speakers might have a bad connection, or they are picking up interference from something, llike if the positive was touching any metal on your car, that can create a problem, but check your connections first.

I had the same problem once and it was a crimped power wire behind the deck that was grounding out. It annoyed me for about a month I changed the speakers and rca's and grounds it sucked but I finally found it. sometimes when you put the deck in it cuts up a wire or two so take it out and make sure this didnt happen.

alright. so it's probably just wiring then? that's good. i was worried something would be wrong with the actual HU and i'd have to go a while without music in my car. it's not the speakers. i know it's not. because my amp doesn't even turn on. like maybe the remote wire doesn't tell the amp when to turn on.

yeah it could be the remote wire or a bad ground on the amp
