I recently installed a pair of Earthquake vtek 693, 6x9 speakers. When i turn up the volume, the tweeters shut down and it sounds like i have a blanket over my head. I know they have a polyswitch, or a cut-off switch to protect them, but these are 700 watt speakers. The should be ablr to handle a lot more than I'm pumping. Does anyone know what the problem is?
They might possibly be shutting off around RMS handling which is around 350watts if even that. Are you running them from the headunit's amp or something external?

I'm powering them with a Memphis 4 channel amp at 75 watts per, but I've got the gain turned down to less than half. I suspect that these speakers just suck.
