what setting should i use to test the voltage coming from my battery to my amp?
the amp stopped working and i want to see if it is getting power.
also, what setting should i use to check the remote wire? is it also running directly off the battery, or is it a smaller voltage?
thanks.

DC voltage. Voltage should be around 12-14V, depending upon if the car is on or off. Same for the remote wire, since you don't have a ground wire, tap the ground of the meter to chassis of the car.
