Im a regular in the subwoofer forum im gonna come over here to ask you gentlemen a question.
Is it possible to buy a head unit that is only a CD player/radio tuner so that you can use an external amp for the speakers and possibly save money and have better audio quality? Or is it just not worth it?
The reason I ask is because I don't want ot buy an alpine reciever and have it drowned out by my subs so I have to have an external amp anyway. I've never had an alpine so maybe that doesnt happen.
A unit without an internal amplifier? It's very possible. The thing is, the majority of the pre-amp units i've seen are expensive. If you have the means to utilize such a unit, go for it!
I can think of a few that would work(maybe so you can get an idea of whether this is what you're looking for or not): Alpine 7998 Clarion DRX9255 or DRZ9255(newer+more expensive version) Pioneer DEX-P1R(older unit) Some Eclipse models... I'm sure there are MANY more out there...
