If my amps input sensitivity is 1.5mv-7v and my headunit puts out 6.5, it's a pioneer premiere, so it really does, does that mean i should turn the gain almost all the way up or does thathave nothing to do with the gain? Thanks
You match the gain with the out put on your amp. Since the Output is that high your gain should stay pretty low.
Keep in mind when you turn up the gain, your turning up the (SENCITIVITY). So your making the amp work harder looking for the signal, and that leads to distortion. Thats not a perfect example of what happens, but its an easy way to understand the coralation between gain and line out voltage.
The output on your amp doesn't change with the line out voltage on your deck, or the gain setting. Look on ED's web site and they will have the rms output of your amp listed.
