I've got a JL w6v2 which is a 4 ohm DVC rated at 400w rms max and an MTX 801 rated at 400w rms at 4ohm...how can i wire it so that 400w rms is runnin to it?
you can't. You can wire in parallel or series. Parallel will result in a 2 ohms load, and series will result in a 8 ohms load. Did u mean the mtx 8001? That amp is 2 ohm stable, it will deliver 800 watts at 2 ohms. To wire in parallel connect both positive voice coil leads to the positive on the amp. An likewise for the negatives. (but only if the amp is 2 ohm stable!!!)

so basically...i'll be runnin too much or not enough power with that amp?
If u set the gains right you shouldnt have ne thing to worry about. If you are worried then u might consider swapping for a different amp, or buy another w6.

i think i might go w/ the smaller amp...i dont want to mess anything up...400 watts rms extra is a lot
