Silver Member Username: TdbdrummerPost Number: 113 Registered: Feb-05 | If I get the JBL GTO 1201.1 amp, and run my new subs to it, should my car's electrical system be able to take it? It's and '02 Cougar. |

Silver Member Username: TdbdrummerPost Number: 116 Registered: Feb-05 | SO, what do I do? I want to run my subs |
Bronze Member Username: GoonPost Number: 25 Registered: Feb-05 | buy a h/o alternator. i have to do the same thing as well.... goon |
Silver Member Username: TdbdrummerPost Number: 118 Registered: Feb-05 | Well, is there any other option, like a lower powered amp? I have friends who have decent amps, and they didn't have to have new alternators. |
Silver Member Username: TdbdrummerPost Number: 119 Registered: Feb-05 | How about a capacitor? |
Silver Member Username: TdbdrummerPost Number: 120 Registered: Feb-05 | If not, where can I find these alternators online? Website? |

Silver Member Username: TdbdrummerPost Number: 123 Registered: Feb-05 | I can't find one for my Cougar. |
Silver Member Username: TdbdrummerPost Number: 126 Registered: Feb-05 | What do they mean by a remanufactured alternator? Refurbished? |
Gold Member Username: CarguyPost Number: 1715 Registered: Nov-04 | Most all alternators are, or else you'd be paying $500 or more. Just call those places posted above, and they will gladly help you out. You need to get one for your model and no guessing. |
jimbo911 Unregistered guest | i have 1600 TRUE rms watts. and i dont even have a dimming problem. using all stock electrical system. |
Silver Member Username: TdbdrummerPost Number: 127 Registered: Feb-05 | See, this is where I get mixed signals, friends of mine have good stuff, and they don't have new alternators. Thnere Jimbo just said he has stock stuff, but with 1600W TRUE rms. In reality if I get that JBL or the Audiobahn it will NEVER EVER be run that high, without clipping or blowing the subs. |
Silver Member Username: TdbdrummerPost Number: 128 Registered: Feb-05 | Jimbo, what kind of amp are you running? |
Gold Member Username: InvainMichigan United States Post Number: 1351 Registered: Aug-04 | 1600 true rms would be 130 amps. His stock alt. probably isn't even 100. |
Silver Member Username: TdbdrummerPost Number: 136 Registered: Feb-05 | Ok then what about the Audiobahn A8000T? It's rms is 400. Is there any reason I can't run one of those? With my subs wired in parallel to it? |
Silver Member Username: TdbdrummerPost Number: 137 Registered: Feb-05 | My dilema is that I really am not wanting to mess too much with any of the major mechanics in the car. I wouldn't have the money to have it fixed if something went wrong with a new alt. |
