1000/1 would be optimal. Go sealed or slot ported.

the 10w7 is made to go with the 500/1
just like the 8w7 is made for the 250/1 and the 13w7 is made for the 1000/1, the 12w7 can be used with either the 500/1 or the 1000/, the 1000/1 is also made for 2 10w7s.

ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ok sure it is. The 500/1 is actually they made for the w6v2's but For the 10w7 my mistake the 500/1 is good. As far ts the 1000/1 only being for the 13w7 look at www.jlaudio.com my friend and look where the 1000/1 falls on the recomended power chart for the 12w7! Look at the 10w6v2, 12w6v2,and wow the 13w6v2 as well 500 = optimal. As far as the 1000/1 being made for 2-10w7's thats like saying they made the 1000/1 for 4-8w7's. I have owned a vast majority of JL products and have done extensive research on them and had many long conversations with their Tech suppot manager Tom. If you want give him a call he will be more then happy to tell you what I have just said.

do u have a jl system, or have u just worked around them?
and when i was talking about the amps and subs i was implying that is what each sub is recomended to have. i know for a fact that the 500/1 was not made for a w6v2 due to the fact that this amp was out way before the w6v2s came out. but when u said about how saying the 1000/1 is for the 2 10w7s is same as for 4 8w7s...most people who have 2 10w7s run them off the 1000/1 and not 2 500/1s its more logical to have one strong amp than 2 smaller ones. the 1000/1 pushes close to 1250watts and the 500/1 close to 625watts.

now do you guys think that the 10" brahma in ah lets say 1.0 cu ftc seald encloser sound good? and would the 500/1 be a logical amp for the brahma also??

I have had a few Jl systems and worked alot with them over the years. OK I just talked to Hector over at JL and he informed me that the amps were made with both speaker designs in mind.
As far as a 500/1 pushing a brahma 10 in a 1cu ft box it should be plenty. It will reach full excursion.

w7's sound very nice I have had a 10w7 and a 12w7. I now have a brahma and the sound quality is very similar but the SPL output of the brahma is much better with the same amount of power. Either way you will be happy. The w7 is overpriced in my opinion but as long as people keep paying there prices they will keep raising them. Good luck!

that guy just said it the 1000/1 puts out around 1250 and a 500/1 puts out around 625. That would be the same amount of watts. 1 1000/1 vs. 2 500/1's.

haha, audio dude says that it would be better to put a 1000/1 that puts out about 1250 watts than to put 2 500/1 that puts out about 625. isn't 625x2 1250?? That's just me

right but buying 2 500/1s is more money than 1 1000/1 so for cheaper its the same watts..understand. and it would be easier than having two amps that have to be tuned exactly the same, much easier to have one.

Yeah, but with 2 amps you have better efficiency than 1, which would be better overall.

true, BUT two amps would pull way more current from the alternator and would force you to upgrade the electrical sytem, which costs more money so if u stick with one amp you will spend less. my main car battery is a high end SVR and in the back i have two optima red tops so with 3 batteries on the the system i can play it with my stock alternator

i don't think it would pull more current from the alt. there is a certain formula you divide the number of watts rms by 12 or the volts your car has, then multiply it by the effiency which is like 75% on class d's so i think it would end up being the same. I think that formula is correct.
