Thursday, February 12, 2004 - 15:54 GMT Here are the specs: Boss R850 Car Audio Amplifier Mono Channel, 400 W x 1 (RMS), S/N Ratio: 105 dB, THD at Rated RMS Power: 0.01% Q: If the S/N and THD are fairly respectable, why is Boss considered a poor choice? Especially since it was purchased new for $62.90.

Thursday, February 12, 2004 - 16:50 GMT build quality. they are poorly made. specs are misleading. you get what you pay for in this case, which is a poorly made, fancy looking amp that will most likely fail in short order.

Thursday, February 12, 2004 - 17:43 GMT That makes sense. I guess if he (my son) gets a year out of it (the warranty period), then perhaps his funds will allow an upgrade. He is just trying to do to much to quick... What could he expect to spend to achieve those specs plus reliability?
