i just installed a pair of infinity reference's DVC, wired in series. the subs are hooked up to a performance teknique 2000 watt 2 channel amp everytime i turn off my car the last thing that always happens is a loud pop, is that bad? i also have a capacitor connecting to the p-teknique
You will hear that popping sound whenever HU gets turned off. However, some amps have built in "soft" turn on and off. That helps with the popping sound.
This kind of problem is often caused by transients in the signal processor as it powers down finding their way into the signal path, which the amplifier then transmits to the speakers. Usually this can be solved by adding a little turn-off delay to the processor. This allows the processor to stay powered on for a short time after the amplifiers have powered down, thus preventing the pop.
When I had my CDA-9835, MRD-M301, and SWR-1042D hooked up, I always got a pop when turning the car pwoer ON. I never got a pop when turning it off though . . .
